From the Analog Chalk Age to the “No-Remote-Control Strategy” – The Digital Transformation of Stadtwerke Krefeld

Executive Summary

Stadtwerke Krefeld (SWK) faced the challenge of fundamentally modernizing its analog meeting culture and efficiently connecting home-office and office employees. Together with ViewSonic and the IT system house eitech, a company-wide media-technology infrastructure was implemented. Through the use of ViewSonic ViewBoard interactive displays, the CDE series commercial displays, and All-in-One Direct View LED display walls, a seamless collaboration environment was created that impresses above all through its uncompromising simplicity in everyday work.

The Challenge: Complexity Blocks Collaboration

Before the modernization, everyday work at Stadtwerke Krefeld was shaped by analog tools such as classic flip charts and whiteboards. With the shift toward hybrid working models, the pressure on the IT infrastructure grew. Three central hurdles had to be overcome:

The hybrid divide: Office workers and colleagues in the home office had to be brought together seamlessly in shared Microsoft Teams sessions.
The “cable and tech frustration”: Before meetings, employees lost valuable time searching for the right video, webcam, or power cables.
High IT support effort: The manual switching of different signal sources overwhelmed many users. The media-technology team regularly had to be dispatched to fix simple usage errors on site.

The Solution: A Holistic Ecosystem Instead of Isolated Solutions

Since the start of the partnership in 2018, SWK and the system house eitech have pursued a gradual, perfectly coordinated evolution of the spaces:

Interactive collaboration: The start was made with interactive ViewSonic touchboards for creative, digital teamwork.
Standardized presentation: For classic meeting rooms, the ViewSonic commercial displays series (non-touch displays) was defined as the new standard.
Large-format infotainment & event surfaces: In representative areas – such as the grandstand, the entrance area, and the large congress hall – impressive ViewSonic All-in-One dvLED walls were installed to enable large-scale events and hybrid events in grand style.
