ViewSonic Introduces the CDEG3 Series of OS-Free 4K Commercial Displays for Advanced Cybersecurity

The Enterprise-Grade Series Features 24/7 Reliability, Instant Boot-Up, and Universal BYOD Compatibility for Secure Corporate Environments

BREA, CA (July 21, 2026)ViewSonic Corp., a leading global provider of visual and edtech solutions, introduces its CDEG3 Series of high-security commercial displays. Purpose-built to meet strict security mandates, this line is ideal for meeting spaces, conference rooms, and environments demanding maximized cybersecurity. The ViewSonic® CDEG3 Series delivers exceptional functionality and enterprise-grade performance without compromising network integrity.

The CDEG3 Series is designed without an internal operating system or built-in applications. By removing the ability to install apps entirely, the display reduces software vulnerabilities and remains completely secure. This innovative design drastically reduces the attack surface against digital threats and significantly simplifies maintenance for IT departments since there is no resident operating system. Built with commercial-grade components and a metal-backed chassis, these displays ensure enterprise-level reliability for continuous, 24/7 operation.

To optimize workflow, the displays feature an Instant-On cold boot-up of less than eight seconds, allowing presentations and collaborative sessions to start quickly. Additionally, these displays offer universal BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) compatibility to connect seamlessly to any laptop, mini-PC, or media player without ecosystem restrictions. The series delivers stunning visual quality with native 4K UHD resolution and 500 nits of brightness, ensuring detailed graphics and crisp text. For seamless ProAV integration and streamlined control, the CDEG3 line holds a verified status in the Q-SYS Library and is compatible with major AV control systems, including Crestron, Extron, and AMX.

“At ViewSonic, we are thrilled to offer the CDEG3 Series for organizations looking to maximize their cybersecurity without sacrificing performance,” said Jeff Muto, Business Line Director at ViewSonic. “This line of OS-free commercial displays drastically reduces network vulnerabilities while delivering 24/7 reliability and seamless ProAV integration. Whether it is a corporate boardroom or a high-security environment, this new series is purpose-built to protect and elevate the enterprise workflow.”

16:10 Portable Monitors for Business

16:10 Portable Monitors for Business

Discover why 16:10 is the new enterprise portable monitor standard. ViewSonic’s portable 16:10 monitors deliver sharper resolution and USB-C connectivity for modern business teams.

Best 16:10 Portable Monitors for Business Laptops and Hybrid Work

If you’ve upgraded your work laptop recently, you’ve probably noticed that the screens are suddenly getting taller.

Behind this shift is one of the biggest trends right now in enterprise hardware: modern business laptops abandoning the widescreen format in favor of 16:10 displays to give users more room to work.

But if your portable monitor doesn’t match, dragging windows between screens can break your layout. You’ll end up wasting time resizing windows and reformatting documents instead of getting things done.

A matching 16:10 portable monitor fixes this headache. It gives you that same extra vertical space for spreadsheets, documents, code, dashboards and presentations so everything flows together.

The ViewSonic® VG1656-2K, TD1656-2K, VG1656N, VP1656 and VG1457 are built specifically to complement this new generation of 16:10 business hardware. They turn your laptop into a cohesive multi-screen workstation anywhere work happens.

Why the Shift?

Widescreen 16:9 displays were originally built for video, not productivity.

The business world simply inherited the format because it was the default layout for consumer TVs and monitors at the time.

However, using a video layout for data and text can create constant friction. The lack of vertical space forces you to scroll endlessly through files and data sheets, while mismatched screen shapes disrupt your focus every time you move a window.

As laptops move to 16:10 displays for more screen real estate, ViewSonic now offers portable monitors to pair with them for a seamless multi-screen setup.

What Are The Benefits Of A 16:10 Portable Monitor For Business?

Switching to a 16:10 portable display provides some distinct advantages:

  • Extra Vertical Workspace: A 16:10 monitor delivers significantly more vertical area than a standard widescreen. That means more lines of text, more rows of data and more project details are visible at once.
  • Visual Continuity: When your portable screen matches your laptop’s aspect ratio, moving windows between displays is completely fluid. You won’t have to deal with stretched windows, weird scaling issues or broken layouts.
  • Matches Modern Resolution Standards: Running at WQXGA (2560 x 1600) or WUXGA (1920 x 1200) resolution, these monitors render text, data and design assets with razor-sharp clarity.

Why IT Teams Should Consider 16:10 Portable Monitors

For employees, an external screen is a daily productivity tool, but for IT leaders and procurement managers, this lineup offers systemic advantages that compound across an entire organization:

  • Fleet Simplicity: Standardizing on a single portable monitor SKU that connects universally with any USB-C or Thunderbolt-equipped laptop reduces deployment confusion and cuts down technical support overhead.
  • Visual Cohesion: Deploying secondary displays that align with the modern 16:10 native aspect ratio creates a unified visual environment across a hybrid workforce.
  • Longevity of Investment: Because 16:10 is the reigning design standard for premium enterprise laptops, investing in matching portable displays ensures your mobile hardware fleet stays completely compatible with future computer refreshes.
  • For most corporate teams, the VG1656-2K serves as an excellent company-wide standard. Specialized departments can then add the TD1656-2K for touch workflows, the VG1656N for untethered sales teams, the VP1656 for creative marketing units or the VG1457 for power-user analysts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will a 16:10 portable monitor work with a traditional 16:9 laptop?

Yes. All five models connect with any USB-C or Thunderbolt-equipped laptop, regardless of its native screen shape. While the visual alignment benefit is strongest when paired with a modern 16:10 notebook, these displays function beautifully as high-performing secondary screens for legacy 16:9 machines.

What is the difference between WQXGA and WUXGA resolution?

WQXGA stands for Wide Quad Extended Graphics Array, representing a high-density resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels. It packs over four million pixels onscreen for crisp text. WUXGA resolution runs at 1920 x 1200 pixels, which also preserves the taller 16:10 aspect ratio and stays visibly crisper than a baseline 1080p display. Both formats are optimized for detailed data work, long-form reading and high-fidelity project reviews.

Does the automatic rotation feature require extra software?

To enable auto pivot, you’ll need to download the free vDisplayManager app. It’s required to switch between Mirror, Extend and Full-Screen mode.

On the VG1457, the app also lets you switch between portrait and landscape modes.

Does the TD1656-2K work with stylus or pen input?

The TD1656-2K works with both finger touch and stylus input. It uses a 10-point capacitive touchscreen that supports finger interactions like tapping, pinching and swiping. An included stylus adds pen input for note-taking and sketching. Mac users can enable touch by installing ViewSonic vTouch software.

Can these monitors be standardized across a large enterprise fleet?

Yes, this is one of the strongest arguments for corporate deployment. Universal USB-C and Thunderbolt compatibility combined with an easy single-cable installation ensures deployment is simple. Plus, clean, matching specifications across the lineup make these portable displays easy to distribute, manage and support at scale.

Build a Better Mobile Workstation

A laptop gives you the freedom to work from anywhere, but a matching 16:10 portable monitor gives you the space to do it efficiently. Aligning your mobile hardware with a taller aspect ratio lets you work faster, scroll less and build a complete dual-screen workstation wherever your business takes you.

Ready to Close the Gap Between Your Laptop and Your Workflow?

Ready to see the difference a taller screen makes? Align your mobile setup with the future of business monitors.

  • Be a publicly or privately held organization
  • Be a for-profit, not-for-profit, or a government organization
  • Have been in business for at least one year, at the program registration deadline

ViewSonic Professional Development Team Offers One-on-One Online Support and Advice for Teachers about Distance Learning

The Team Can Assist on Topics Including: Basics of Distance Learning, Tools to Use, and Curriculum Development and Execution

Brea, CA (April 13, 2020) – ViewSonic Corp., a leading global provider of visual solutions, announced that it has made its Professional Development (PD) team available to assist teachers with distance learning advice and support. As part of the ViewSonic distance learning initiative during the COVID-19 outbreak, the PD team will offer one-on-one online support for teachers with any learning initiatives they may have, including topics such as: distance learning as a whole, tools for distance learning, curriculum development, as well as video creation or conferencing for lessons.

Teachers and students now face an entirely new way of teaching and learning. New tools are required, both on the hardware and software side, and are necessary to share ideas, communicate, and ensure student learning.

Some teachers may have concerns with distance learning as a concept, even without the “learning” part of it. A lot of what happens in the classroom during the instructional piece is being able to individualize the learning process or break it down so that every student is able to understand it. Going digital doesn’t necessarily allow for that direct integration.

The ViewSonic Professional Development team offers some general guidance:

• Adapt to the new normal: It’s important to set out goals and objectives that can be accomplished. It takes time for both the teacher and student to get comfortable with the new environment and pattern of learning.

• Class time replication: Weekly assignments, and projects are all ways to assess learning.  Think about the amount of time for instruction, classwork and discussions that occur in your traditional class period.  It’s important to not assign busy work that goes beyond that amount of time.

• Teach outside the box: Remote and distance learning is about learning and integrating new ways to educate. Get feedback from parents and students and make the most of the resources that are available online, and in a lot of cases, free.

“Remote and distance learning lessons are definitely different than inside the confines of a classroom,” said Blake Everhart, Solution Training Manager at ViewSonic Americas. “As a former teacher, I understand there’s sometimes a gap between learning the scope and sequence of the technology side that can match up with the lessons you want to teach. The ability to create and complete lessons, and how to filter through the many resources that are out there makes it tough to focus. That’s why my team and I at ViewSonic are making ourselves available to help out, and make things less overwhelming.”

ViewSonic Announces $500,000 Product Donation with Community Outreach Program that Focuses on America’s Youth and Education

BREA, CA (Feb, 27, 2020) – ViewSonic Corp., a leading global provider of display solutions, has announced a significant expansion of its corporate social responsibility efforts with a new community outreach program focused on youth and education. The Empowering Future Generations initiative is kicking off through a partnership with Orange County United Way with donations of some half-million dollars in technology solutions to underserved schools.

“Our children are the future, and together we can help them succeed by providing resources that will enhance their learning experience,” said Susan B. Parks, President and CEO of Orange County United Way. “We are so grateful to ViewSonic for their giving spirit and shared mission and commitment to academic success for our youth. We believe in providing our children every opportunity for a quality education, and the technology will certainly help them meet their goals and achieve scholastic success.”

The partnership with Orange County United Way involves its Destination Graduation program that is offered to middle and high school students in high-need districts. The initial phase of this effort will provide ViewSonic® ViewBoard® interactive displays and myViewBoard™ software to support high levels of collaboration in AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) classrooms at Los Amigos High School and Santiago High School in the Garden Grove Unified School District.

The Empowering Future Generations initiative is designed to identify and support schools in need of technology resources for programs such as STEM and STEAM labs, SCALE-UP classrooms, robotics workshops and esports clubs. At the same time, it will provide opportunities for ViewSonic employees to engage with schools and serve their communities while building teamwork and leadership skills.

ViewSonic has been involved for some time in supporting schools with resources to enhance student learning and skills development. The company recently provided 100 Raspberry Pi compact computing devices for use by STEM, STEAM and robotics clubs in the Brea Olinda Unified School District. Other activities with Brea USD have included career days for 6th graders at ViewSonic headquarters and  internships at the company for high school students. Additional support for area youth has included work with Make-a-Wish and Caterina’s Club, which ViewSonic plans to continue.

“We are very proud of ViewSonic’s position as a global leader in providing technology solutions that support collaboration, communication and creativity. These attributes are essential for success in the learning environment as well as in virtually any chosen career path,” said Jeff Volpe, President of ViewSonic Americas. “Since charity begins at home, our initial focus is on supporting schools and students in our backyard. We hope to expand the scope of these efforts more broadly next year as well.”

Under the Empowering Future Generations banner, ViewSonic is focused on furthering the advancement of learning at all levels by providing professional expertise and innovative technologies in partnership with well-known organizations that align with the company’s mission and core values. Meeting that goal encompasses providing valuable resources to students and educators, while engaging employees in meaningful community service experiences.
