Thunderbolt Connectivity: The Strategic Investment for Modern Business Workspaces

Buyer's Guide

Thunderbolt Connectivity: The Strategic Investment for Modern Business Workspaces

Thunderbolt connectivity has evolved from an essential tool for creative professionals into a critical asset for the modern enterprise. As business workflows become increasingly data-heavy, the hardware supporting your team must do more than just display information. It must serve as a high-speed engine for productivity and seamless transitions.

The traditional office desk anchored by a desktop tower and a nest of cables is a relic of the past. Today’s executives and managers operate in a hybrid reality, moving between high-stakes boardrooms, home offices and collaborative flex-spaces.

What Makes a Thunderbolt Monitor Different?

For a business, the difference between USB-C and Thunderbolt is the difference between a standard road and a dedicated express lane. Thunderbolt provides a dedicated tunnel for data and video, ensuring that a large file download never compromises the quality of a video presentation.

Feature Standard USB-C Thunderbolt 3 / 4
Max Bandwidth 10–20 Gbps 40 Gbps
PCIe Data Support Limited Full Support (Internal-drive speeds)
Daisy Chaining DisplayPort alt mode Native (Up to 6 devices)
Ethernet Speed Typically 1 GbE Up to 10 GbE

Why Business Professionals Are Making the Switch

Why should your team upgrade to Thunderbolt? The move to Thunderbolt is a strategic decision to prioritize efficiency and reduce technical friction. Standard HDMI and basic USB-C hubs were not engineered for the simultaneous demands of 4K video conferencing, rapid data backups and high-wattage laptop charging. When professionals rely on underpowered hubs they face flickering displays, slow file transfers and the frustration of dongle management.

To maintain a high-performance, laptop-centric studio without sacrificing desktop-class reliability, Thunderbolt has become the enterprise standard.

Single-Cable Executive Simplicity

How does a single cable save time? For the professional on the move, seamless transitions are essential. Thunderbolt allows a laptop to instantly transform into a fully powered executive workstation with a single connection. By simultaneously supporting data, audio, video and power delivery up to 100W, it eliminates the daily hassle and wasted time of wrestling with separate cables. Beyond saving setup time, this single-cable solution drives cost efficiency by removing the need to purchase expensive standalone docking stations. This easily eliminates the need for bulky power bricks and multiple adapters to create a cleaner, more organized workspace that reduces troubleshooting and mental clutter.

High-Speed Data Management

Does Thunderbolt speed up file transfers? Modern business depends on massive datasets from cloud-synced libraries to external encrypted drives. Because Thunderbolt supports PCIe data transfer, external storage operates at speeds nearly identical to internal drives. This allows for rapid media ingestion, lightning-fast backups and the ability to work directly off external drives with minimal lag.

Multi-Display Expansion

Can you connect multiple monitors easily? Efficient multitasking requires screen real estate. Whether it is managing complex spreadsheets on one screen while video conferencing on another, Thunderbolt’s support for daisy chaining allows you to link multiple monitors together via a single chain. To set this up you simply need a primary monitor equipped with both Thunderbolt in and out ports. Crucially, Thunderbolt provides the massive bandwidth needed to support high-resolution daisy chaining like running dual 4K displays without sacrificing smooth refresh rates or visual clarity. This creates a high- productivity multi-monitor array with minimal cable complexity.

Professional Visual Precision

Does connection type affect image quality? Color accuracy and panel quality are vital for business professionals who handle high-end presentations, data visualization and brand-consistent collateral. Standard connections often force a compromise between display resolution and data transfer speeds but Thunderbolt’s massive 40 Gbps bandwidth eliminates this bottleneck.

This massive bandwidth allows you to:

  • Drive uncompressed 4K and 5K displays at optimal refresh rates to ensure absolute clarity for complex visual data.
  • Scrub through uncompressed video or manipulate giant design files directly from external drives without experiencing screen lag, dropped frames or artifacting.
  • Deliver professional-grade visual fidelity while concurrently running high-speed network transfers or daisy-chaining additional hardware without signal degradation.

Thunderbolt’s Impact Across Professional Disciplines

Who benefits the most from a Thunderbolt setup? The industry has shifted toward agility, with high-performance laptops increasingly replacing traditional desktops as the primary computing engine for modern professionals. Thunderbolt monitors act as the bridge in this evolution. They provide the desktop-class infrastructure needed to turn a portable device into a permanent professional centerpiece.

  • Data Analysts: Benefit from massive bandwidth to move large datasets and the screen real estate to visualize them.
  • Executives: Enjoy the single-cable connectivity between meetings and deep-work sessions.
  • Project Managers: Use multi-monitor setups to track timelines, communications and budgets simultaneously.
  • IT Departments: Enjoy simplified asset management by eliminating the need for standalone docking stations. This universal standard guarantees incredible ease of use and rapid deployment to keep your entire team working smoothly.

Furthermore, Thunderbolt provides seamless cross-platform compatibility to effortlessly drive high-resolution dual-monitor setups whether your users operate an Apple-centric or high-end Windows fleet. This universal standard eliminates the headache of managing fragmented docking solutions for mixed-device environments.

When Thunderbolt Delivers the Highest ROI

How does this investment pay off? You will see the greatest long-term return on a Thunderbolt setup when focusing on:

  • Future-proofing laptop-based workflows: By investing in Thunderbolt 4’s massive 40 Gbps bandwidth, you ensure your display and docking infrastructure won’t become obsolete as your team upgrades to next-generation laptops.
  • Maximizing output on data transfers: For professionals managing heavy external storage, the hours saved by moving massive files at internal-drive speeds directly translate to increased productivity and less downtime.
  • Streamlining shared workspaces: In collaborative environments that require frequent docking, the universal standard and cross-platform reliability of Thunderbolt reduce IT support tickets, minimize hardware wear-and-tear and keep teams working smoothly.

How ViewSonic Monitors Support Professional Workflows

What are the best Thunderbolt monitors for business? ViewSonic designs its ColorPro™ series and professional displays to align with the rigors of the modern business environment. These monitors offer high-resolution panels, substantial power delivery and integrated docking functionality on select models that replaces expensive standalone docks. With factory-calibrated visual quality and a focus on ergonomic design, they are the anchor of a high-efficiency workspace.

Business School Enhances Event Experience with ViewSonic® Direct View LED Display

SOLUTION BRIEF

Business School Enhances Event Experience with ViewSonic® Direct View LED Display

BACKGROUND

With a growing population of undergraduate and graduate students, the business school at a top-ranked university on the U.S. East Coast was running out of space. As a result, it was compelled to repeatedly repurpose study space to accommodate events, which was both inconvenient for students and inefficient. The opportunity to address this need arose when space in their main building became available to transform into an exclusive event space.

Central to delivering an effective space would be a focal-point display that could easily be seen by all participants. The large space, which would accommodate up to 200 attendees at round tables, was graced with significant natural lighting from numerous windows. While a benefit to the ambiance overall, this ambient light would constrain their choice of AV system, which would need to be bright enough to deliver clear images in these conditions.

The school’s IT team quickly ruled out projection.

“They had already been moving away from traditional projectors, because of the higher maintenance and tendency to dim over time,” said Eric Waldron, ViewSonic Regional Business Manager for the area. “They wanted instructors and presenters to be able to keep the lights on, which helps facilitate engagement, and they liked that a video wall solution would provide excellent support for hybrid meetings.”

Along with needing outstanding brightness and clarity, the space required a precise fit and the IT team was under pressure to complete the installation quickly for a planned event. Additional objectives included a platform that would enable intuitive transition for professors from the familiar white- and blackboards to digital annotation.

Not only did the business school gain useful event space, which meant no longer displacing students from study areas, the IT team is enjoying the benefits of the front-swappable panels, which enable faster and easier maintenance and easier alignment, which ensures a more seamless, accurate image.

  • Equipment currently in use is beginning to reach the end of their service life

As part of its education delivery, the district had previously relied on Promethean projectors in classrooms, but these products were reaching the end of their life cycle. Not only were the images hard to see in ambient light conditions, the systems often needed replacement parts and were expensive to maintain. Additionally, the projectors had to be manually recalibrated every time they were moved, presenting new logistical challenges. The school district decided it was time to make a transition to newer technology, and undertook a comprehensive search and trial of leading visual technologies, from projection systems to interactive flat panel displays (IFPs) – including ViewSonic® ViewBoard® interactive displays.

The team leading the search already knew that interactive flat panel systems would be more flexible to use, much easier to install, and require less maintenance than projectors. They decided to invite teachers from across their network to a central location to evaluate four different interactive flat panel (IFP) display systems in person.

  • ViewBoard IFP8650 86-inch Interactive Display

  • myViewBoard® Digital Whiteboarding Software

ViewSonic’s ViewBoard interactive displays with integrated myViewBoard® whiteboarding software was the clear winner from the start. The decision was made to go with the 86-inch ViewSonic ViewBoard IFP8650 with integrated myViewBoard software as a standardized solution across their school system.

During the evaluation period, the teams that were leading the search noted that teachers tended to gather around the ViewBoard at the end of the day to get a first-hand trial of the myViewBoard system. It definitely caused the most excitement which made for a very easy decision.

One area of concern expressed by the teachers was ensuring seamless transition of the content they had accumulated over the years to the new system. Because myViewBoard software natively opens Promethean Flipchart files, teachers were able to easily import and manage all of their content created on older software. All of their content was accessible so they didn’t have to reinvent the wheel.

Teachers were also able to transition to the new technology with minimal interruption. The school district decided to install the new ViewBoard displays in schools during the school year, and were able to remove the old technology in the evening and install the ViewSonic system by the end of the next day.

RESULTS

  • Long LED lifespan reduces maintenance and supports 24/7 use

  • Dealership excited to expand usage for movie nights, community engagement, and brand storytelling

“With such a mix of different schools and teaching styles, this school district had numerous different use cases for the technology,” said Deidre Deacon, General Manager, ViewSonic Canada. In choosing ViewSonic’s myViewBoard platform, flexibility was a key consideration. “The beauty of the ViewBoard solution is the ability to easily adapt to the curriculum of a particular school, while enabling centralized maintenance and control through the myViewBoard software. Another key advantage over the older projection systems is the improved contrast, which provides clearer images and better viewing angles.”

The ViewBoard displays are also capable of wireless connectivity which enables screen sharing from any laptop, allowing teachers and students to easily share content via their in-class devices.

Wireless connectivity and easy set up were critical considerations as the units could easily be moved between schools and maintained from a central location. Installation was quickly completed – in fact the rollout of the first 230 ViewSonic ViewBoard displays took only 12 weeks to complete.

Today, teachers are excited with what they can do with the new technology. They are also trying out different digital learning tools, like putting cameras on top of the ViewBoard displays, streaming school tournaments, and allowing multiple students to engage on the screen at the same time.

Having advanced interactive display technology has also been a valuable drawing card with parents who are always looking for what’s best for their kids. If they see more cutting-edge technology that actually works, and they know they can watch and be connected with their kids, the decision to send them to one of the district’s schools is easy.

CASE STUDY

Car Dealership’s Creativity Shines Bright with Huge ViewSonic Direct View LED Display

COMPANY

In a city brimming with history, the Capistrano VW dealership is itself historic. Opened in 1963, seven years before San Juan Capistrano in Orange County, California became an official city, the dealership was the region’s first purveyor of new cars. In 1997 it was purchased by its current owner, Miles Brandon, who opened Capistrano Mazda next door in 2015. Today, both dealerships operate according to Brandon’s “undealer” philosophy, which strives to deliver a unique and positive experience that surpasses what customers and employees expect from a car dealer. Both dealerships have been recognized with award-winning customer service.

““This incredible [Direct View LED display] addressed every issue we had with the other systems. It’s a complete package from one manufacturer, and it includes easy device management software. It’s absolutely beautiful, with no annoying bezels. And the price was good too, which really amazed me.”

— Miles Brandon, Owner, Capistrano VW

CHALLENGE

  • Create a visually unique showroom experience within strict manufacturer branding constraints

  • Replace failing multi-screen video wall with a more reliable, easier-to-manage solution

  • Eliminate frequent maintenance costs and performance issues caused by complex multi-vendor setup

Car dealerships are notoriously homogenous within each brand, with manufacturers dictating virtually every aspect of the design, inside and out. This leaves owners with limited opportunity to visually distinguish themselves. Nonetheless, Brandon – who is as enthusiastic about his showroom’s appeal as he is about the history of Volkswagen vehicles – has managed to implement unique and successful strategies over his many years in the business.

“In 2012, we followed the lead of Casey Gunther, then the top VW dealer in the U.S., who broke all the rules and created amazing energy in his Florida showroom,” said Brandon. “He took it pretty far, with things like vibrant hood artwork on the vehicles in his showroom. Our approach was to put in a large video wall that would enable us to dynamically change up the content.”

Initially, Brandon installed a 220-inch screen, comprised of an array of sixteen 55-inch monitors with bezels between each monitor. While he was thrilled with the energy it brought to the showroom, within a few years the system began to experience performance problems. Running with a complex system of components from different manufacturers, the dealership struggled to efficiently manage the technology, which reduced usage. Ultimately, screens began to dim or go fully dark. Frequent screen replacement was required, creating an expensive cost burden. Brandon reached out to their reseller partner Avidex, for help.

  • ViewSonic® LDM231-251 All-in-One Direct View LED display

  • Integrated ViewSonic Manager™ device management software

  • Installation and support by Avidex and ViewSonic Field Solutions Architect

A long-time ViewSonic partner, the first solution Avidex recommended was the 231-inch ViewSonic® LDM231-251 All-in-One Direct View LED display.

“This incredible product addressed every issue we had with the other systems,” said Brandon. “It’s a complete package from one manufacturer, and it includes easy device management software. It’s absolutely beautiful, with no annoying bezels. And the price was good too, which really amazed me.”

Avidex and ViewSonic worked quickly to present a proposal, which came in right on budget, said Brandon, and the first recommendation became the only one he needed to consider.

RESULTS

Line drawing of a rocketLine drawing of a rocket
  • Stunning 231-inch seamless video wall transformed showroom aesthetics and energy

  • Reliable all-in-one system resolved previous performance and management issues

  • Easy setup with complete kit enabled quick, frustrationfree installation

  • Day-and-night visibility extended promotional impact to freeway traffic

  • Enhanced content flexibility for events, promotions, and employee recognition

  • Long LED lifespan reduces maintenance and supports 24/7 use

  • Dealership excited to expand usage for movie nights, community engagement, and brand storytelling

As expected, installation of the ViewSonic LDM231-251 Direct View LED display went smoothly. Everything needed, from the LED tiles and AV hardware to the software, power supplies, and cables, came in one package, making for a fast, frustration-free process.

“From pre-sales support to the installation we were very pleased with everything,” said Brandon. “The ViewSonic field solutions architect was there the entire time, overseeing the process. Everything went incredibly smoothly.”

Brandon was amazed at the transformation.

“What had become an eyesore was now a stunning, dynamic video screen,” he said. “Not only is the sheer size impressive, the image clarity is amazing and the content looks much better without the bezels. The entire solution is clean and modern looking, with no stray components or clutter.”

What’s more, said Brandon, Avidex had assured him that the LEDs used in the ViewSonic Direct View LED display are likely to remain functional well beyond the system’s expected operational life, with a rating of up to 100,000 hours of use. This eliminated the worry that screens could burn out with 24/7 use.

“We love leaving the wall running because people can see it from the I-5 freeway,” he said. “But with the other screens we were concerned that they would burn out. We didn’t want that added expense. That’s not an issue with the ViewSonic display. We’re looking forward to running content at 2:00 am with messages like ‘We may be closed but you can still pull over and look at your next new car.’”

For now, the Capistrano VW showroom team is happy to see their usual dynamic sports content, live cams from local beaches and the San Juan Capistrano train station, and brand content looking so much better on the bright, vibrant screen. The display played a star role in the dealership’s July 2025 showing of the critically-acclaimed Volkswagen-centric movie Circle the Wagen, a feature film that follows the idealistic owner of a 1972 VW bus on an iconic trip down Route 66.

“It looked so much better than the first time we did this, when the movie was released in 2013,” said Brandon. “It added excitement and energy to the event. We’re looking forward to holding more events like this on a regular basis.”

The successful installation, outstanding support, and stunning display have motivated Brandon and his team to look for new ways to make use of their video wall.

“When the other displays were new and looking ok, we used to play loops of fun car content, so we’ll definitely start doing that again,” said Brandon. “With this easier-to-use system we’ll also be adding slideshows of things like employee birthdays or anniversaries, new model release hype, features on new customers, and after-hours promotional messages.”

Ultimately, the ViewSonic Direct View LED solution enables the Capistrano VW team to deliver dynamic, multipurpose content quickly and easily, thanks to the integrated management software. And with the brighter display, added Brandon, drivers on the freeway can now see their messages during the day, not just at night.

“After Avidex and ViewSonic got me the initial proposal so quickly, I knew I’d be happy working with them, and the product looked amazing,” said Brandon. “In fact, everything exceeded my expectations. Between ViewSonic and Avidex we feel more comfortable than ever that we’re working with good people that will be there for us if any issues arise.”

— Sinan Kanatsiz, KCOMM CEO

CHALLENGE

  • Create a state-of-the art workspace venue that uniquely drives creativity, inspiration, and relationships

For most businesses, change is the single constant, though its rate and volume vary. For professional service providers like KCOMM, the drumbeat of change is relentless, and never more rapid since AI became part of the equation.

“Professional services firms need to constantly innovate and reinvent themselves,” said KCOMM CEO, Sinan Kanatsiz. “Which is why I stay carefully attuned to changing environments. My goal is for our business to be constantly ahead of change instead of being a product of change.”

This mindset has served the company well across its 29 years in business, resulting in continuous growth in clients and revenue. Long before the pandemic drove many professionals to home offices, Kanatsiz supported the work-from-home lifestyle, in moderation.

“I’m all about workplace environment and the ways in which it can support efficiency and employee morale,” he said. “But as my friend Palmer Luckey says, how many billion-dollar companies are there with everyone working at home all the time?”

In their business, he added, getting together in person for creative work and comradery-building is critical. For these weekly activities, KCOMM used a beautiful, shared office space at the 400 Spectrum Center space in Irvine, CA.

Amid the pandemic-induced turmoil that had everyone thinking differently about workspace, Kanatsiz wondered: how can we get ahead of this sea-change?

Parallelling the success of his business, Kanatsiz’ family was expanding, and it was time to move on from their ocean-bluff dwelling in San Clemente, California. With his characteristic future-focused mindset, Kanatsiz envisioned a unique new use for his former home: the KCOMM Command Center.

“Not only would the Command Center be a state-of-the-art venue to drive creativity and inspiration during our weekly all-hands meetings,” he said. “It would be a unique space where technology and relationships come together in exciting new ways.”

The main floor would provide a formal, conference-style environment; a softseating area for more relaxed brainstorming, reflection, and connection; and a technology-rich office space for management and the CEO . The five downstairs bedrooms would accommodate clients with efficiency and style. The entire space would be filled with state-of-the-art technology, and was surrounded by the splendor of ocean and mountain views.

Familiar with ViewSonic through his longstanding business relationship with ViewSonic Americas President Jeff Volpe, Kanatsiz naturally turned to the company to assist with building out the facility’s display technology. Together, the companies’ AV teams created a seamless display workflow that included a 75-inch IFP7550 ViewSonic® ViewBoard® interactive display mounted on a VB-STND-009 mobile cart, with 65-inch IFP6562 ViewBoard displays in the executive office.

  • Stunning environment and leading technology elevate efficiency and creativity

  • Combined high-end accommodations and tech-driven workspaces add value for clients, enhancing monetary and emotional ROI

  • Cart-mounted 75-inch ViewSonic ViewBoard provides crisp, clear digital workspace/ signage throughout the facility

  • myViewBoard® software delivers easy and diverse annotation capabilities

  • Quick connectivity enables fluid, efficient meetings with sharing by multiple participants

  • ViewSonic XX-inch displays provide seamless viewing in executive office

The KCOMM Command Center has become integral to the way the firm does business, serving as a unique resort-like work environment for both the KCOMM team and their clients. Part luxury VRBO, part business center, the space is delightfully illusive.

“People’s jaws drop when they walk in, that’s how stunning the environment is and how frictionless the technology works,” said Kanatsiz. “The technology is minimalistic and transparent, but when it’s needed, it’s ideal for supporting every need we’ve encountered.”

Surrounded by stunning natural views, the conference (formerly dining) room doubles as a food and beverage area. It is ideally suited for both informal conversations over meals and focused meetings, with easy-access to refreshments.

“It’s like a standard conference room, but with concierge like benefits,” said Kanatsiz. “We bring in food and beverage and roll in the ViewSonic ViewBoard. Everyone gets down to work, but they also feel a bit like they’re on vacation.”

The cart-mounted interactive display provides locational versatility and everything the firm needs to support meetings with crisp images, easy connectivity, and intuitive annotation capabilities. It has found its way into every area on the main floor, including the conference area, living room space and Kanatsiz’ office. In the entryway it greets clients with customized welcome messages.

“From financial statements to presentation slides and commercials, everything looks beautiful on it,” said Kanatsiz. “And the myViewBoard software has become a terrific addition to meetings. The value of the ViewSonic technology sneaks up on you. When we first got the ViewBoard, we loved it as a huge monitor for displaying content. Then we began discovering the benefits of the annotation tools and other features. It has a lot of hidden gems.”

KCOMM President of Operations Hall Roosevelt notes that, from an account coordinator perspective, the ViewBoard interactive display allows users to give presentations, annotate on them, and still have the ability to use other windows – all while sharing a screen.

“Our team meets in person every week to review accounts, discuss creative work and make plans for the week,” said Roosevelt. “Everyone presents and we are constantly jumping on and off the ViewBoard, which provides a fluid, collaborative environment.”

The easy and intuitive connectivity provided by the ViewBoard display had become one of the KCOMM team’s favorite features.

“Often, when we arrive at someone else’s office for a meeting it takes anywhere from five to fifteen minutes just to get a computer connected to a screen,” said Roosevelt. “With the ViewBoard it takes no more than 60 seconds.”

This efficiency has likewise impressed the firm’s clients. Roosevelt recalls one who asked whether they needed to install an application to share content to the display. The client, he said, was quite impressed with how simple and fast it was to connect to the screen.

“At a recent client meeting we had multiple presenters using their own laptops to present with, and two of them had never used a ViewBoard before,” Roosevelt further recalled. “The meeting and presentations were very natural and fluid, with seamless transition from one presenter to the other. This type of efficiency has an incredibly positive impact on client meetings.”

The value of the Command Center for KCOMM and its clients continues well beyond the effectiveness of the dining room space. After meeting around the conference table, clients and KCOMM teams alike gravitate toward the inviting living room for more casual conversation – or creative brainstorming – surrounded by breathtaking views.

The five luxurious bedrooms on the bottom floor of the property provide “boutique-like” accommodations, said Kanatsiz, with the high-end TVs and AV system sustaining the high-tech vibe of the upstairs spaces. Select clients are invited to use the property for a night or two before scheduled meetings, providing them with a hotel-alternative that seamlessly combines work and pleasure – and a much-needed sense of getting away from it all for clients with offices located far from the splendor of the Pacific Ocean and Santa Ana mountains.

“We run everything from our phones – from the security system to the bedroom TVs – and clients check in using a QR code,” said Kanatsiz. “We created a single system using Google Home and ADT to provide a seamless experience. It’s as efficient and integrated as home tech gets.”

Along with providing an outstanding setting for board meetings, creative sessions, retreats, fundraisers, and more, Kanatsiz said he is literally thrilled to go to work in his Command Center office, formerly the home’s family room.

“I get behind my workstation and everything is breathtaking – from the natural views to the ergonomically perfect positioning of my three ViewSonic displays,” he said. “We’re in the news business, so I have one tuned to news 24/7. I use another for email, and the third display supports video calls and other communications. I wouldn’t change a thing.”

Not the least of the Command Center’s charms is its return on investment.

“The capital investment was minimal and the return has been extraordinary,” said Kanatsiz. “Not just to our bottom line and income, but to our creativity and to feeling good in this space. The ViewSonic displays have been a big part of this; truly, ViewSonic has made my life better.”

The firm’s clients invariably have similar reactions to this unique hybrid home-like workspace.

“Our clients truly enjoy the Command Center as well. They come here and don’t want to leave,” said Kanatsiz. “By being in this place, they’re getting something more out of their lives. It makes them want to work with us more. We have clients asking to come here – that tells me it’s working.”

Los Analistas del Fútbol de Primera is a long-running Paraguayan TV show that dives deep into the world of soccer. Aired live every Sunday at noon on C9N, the program features sports journalists, former soccer players, and even audience participation to analyze matches and keep viewers up-to-date on all things fútbol. This year, Los Analistas del Fútbol de Primera celebrated its 20th anniversary and was recognized as the Best Sports Over-the-Air TV Program at the Paraná Awards. C9N is a free-to-air channel known for its news programs.

“The ViewBoard IFP6550 display is a game-changer for Los Analistas del Fútbol de Primera. It’s allowed us to take our tactical match analysis to a whole new level with interactive graphics and real-time engagement with viewers. It’s a fantastic tool that’s truly transformed the way we present the beautiful game.”

— Marcelo Burgos, Sports Reporter, Los Analistas del Fútbol de Primera

THE CHALLENGE

line drawing of a circular mazeline drawing of a circular maze
  • Modernize the TV broadcast after 20 years on the air

Previously, Los Analistas del Fútbol de Primera relied on a static, third-party managed display for match analysis. This limited their ability to dynamically interact with graphics during the show. Reporters and guests were stuck using pre-loaded graphs, unable to make live modifications to explain plays in detail.

To address this limitation, the program sought a more versatile solution. Ideally, the new system would allow for real-time analysis of tactics discussed by the panelists, alongside the ability to engage with viewer comments live.

THE SOLUTION

line drawing of a jigsaw puzzle pieceline drawing of a jigsaw puzzle piece
  • ViewBoard IFP6550 65” interactive display

  • myViewBoard software

The soccer show required a screen that offered greater interactivity. This meant analysts and guests could visually represent concepts by:

  • Creating on-the-fly graphics: Examples, situations, and plays could be drawn live.
  • Modifying player positions: Players could be added, removed, and repositioned on the field to illustrate strategies.

The ViewSonic® ViewBoard® IFP6550 interactive display became a game-changer. With the included myViewBoard® software, reporters can now easily sketch tactics, strategies, and match analyses directly on the screen at the end of each program. This eliminates the previous limitations of static pre-loaded graphics and allows for dynamic interaction, deletion, and recapture of ideas.

Furthermore, the program’s interactivity extends beyond the on-screen graphics. Viewers can participate by sending live messages through Instagram, X and WhatsApp. These messages are displayed directly on the screen, allowing the hosts to read and respond live, creating a much more dynamic and engaging experience.

“The ViewSonic IFP6550 display is a game-changer for Los Analistas del Fútbol de Primera,” said Marcelo Burgos, a sports reporter for the program. “It’s allowed us to take our tactical match analysis to a whole new level with interactive graphics and real-time engagement with viewers. It’s a fantastic tool that’s truly transformed the way we present the beautiful game.”

RESULTS

The IFP6550 display breathed new life into Los Analistas del Fútbol de Primera. This interactive touchscreen display transformed the show into a dynamic and participatory experience. Viewers are no longer passive observers; they can now actively engage with the program.

Marcos Paredes, ViewSonic’s Territory Manager for Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay, expressed his satisfaction with the project. “We’re thrilled to have provided our IFP6550 Interactive Displays for Los Analistas del Fútbol de Primera,” he said. “At ViewSonic, we’re committed to delivering user-friendly solutions that empower our customers to achieve their goals.”

The brightness and color are also outstanding. We haven’t heard anything negative about the screen. Everything they throw at it presents well.”

— Guy Coria, CSI Director of IT

THE CHALLENGE

line drawing of a circular mazeline drawing of a circular maze
  • Replace outdated projection system

  • Upgrade conference room for VIP customers

The CSI Solar Group conference room had been causing headaches for years. Along with an aging projector system, the original installed equipment never quite worked as intended. More than one AV company failed to find a solution, and the patience (and money) to chase a fix ran out. Things changed when the company began working with larger customers on bigger projects.

“Our business in Solar took off, and we began getting bigger projects and more customers,” said David Pelayo, CSI director of HR and technology. “The budget for this division increased, and our new AV partner Avidex finally figured out the problem.”

At that point, said Pelayo, the team decided to change up the technology entirely. With a bigger budget to work with, and huge solar farm companies looking to partner with them, the decision was made to install a large LED screen as the room’s visual focal point.

“We wanted to create a conference room that reflected the size and scope of the business,” said Pelayo. “Avidex presented us with options and LED displays in the 86-inch to 98-inch size range were the sweet spot in terms of price.”

THE SOLUTION

line drawing of a jigsaw puzzle pieceline drawing of a jigsaw puzzle piece
  • ViewSonic 135-inch Direct View LED display

Among the brands under consideration, the team gravitated toward the ViewSonic® CDE9830 98-inch commercial display. Not only did it offer everything needed to easily support content sharing and collaboration, they were familiar with the brand.

“We began purchasing ViewSonic monitors for our employees about two years ago,” said Guy Coria, CSI director of IT. “The price of our existing brand had gone up, and the quality had declined. The other brand we looked at didn’t perform to our standards. The ViewSonic desktop monitors did.”

Employees have been very satisfied with the ViewSonic monitors, said Coria, adding that feedback on the color and clarity had been particularly positive.

“Because we knew ViewSonic is a great brand in terms of quality, performance and price, we reached out to them to look at their large conference room displays,” said Ruben Estrada, CSI network administrator. “When we got to the ViewSonic showroom and saw the Direct View LED display, we all fell in love with it and didn’t want to consider anything else.”

It wasn’t just bigger, added Pelayo, the ViewSonic 135” Direct View LED display was ideal for creating a high-impact space for the Solar Group to hold its most important customer meetings. It further provided an all-in-one solution with easier front-of-screen maintenance, along with outstanding color and detail.

RESULTS

Line drawing of a rocketLine drawing of a rocket
  • The sleek display provides an upscale, modern look

  • Content is crisp and clear, including spreadsheets and CAD drawings

  • Feedback from users has been universally positive

At over a year since the ViewSonic Direct View LED display was installed, the team has heard nothing but positive feedback from the Solar Group users.

“Given the type of work we do, detail is critical. The ViewSonic Direct View LED display delivers the crystal-clear images our engineers need to showcase project plans and spreadsheets to customers,” said Coria. “The brightness and color are also outstanding. We haven’t heard anything negative about the screen. Everything they throw at it presents well.”

As is typical with AV installations, there were a few bumps along the way. A few parts were delayed, pushing back the initial timeframe; a panel was installed upside down; and the color matrix required adjusting.

“We’re very meticulous, and we asked to have the color coordination adjusted,” said Pelayo. “The ViewSonic tech team came in and dialed it in really well. They were terrific to work with.”

All in all, the installation process went smoothly, the team agreed, including righting the upside-down panel.

“We used the vacuum tool to remove and re-insert panels,” said Pelayo. “We were nervous at first about damaging them, but they’re actually very durable and resilient. It was easy to do.”

Looking back over the experience, the CSI technical and IT team concluded that ViewSonic lived up to its brand reputation, both in product quality and customer experience.

“Our ViewSonic rep, Steve Rodriguez, is a great guy and worked with us closely to ensure that our needs were met,” said Pelayo. “Whether it’s desktop monitors or big-screen conference room displays, the ViewSonic products we’ve tested and used are top-notch.”

Honda Powersports is an American Honda Motor Company brand and the sole distributor of Honda motorcycles, scooters, ATVs, and Side-by-Sides in the United States. The Honda Power Sports & Products business unit conducts the sales, marketing, and operational activities for these products through independent authorized Honda retail dealers. Formed in 1982, Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) is a racing division of the Honda Motor Company and is responsible for Honda’s motorcycle racing activities, including AMA Supercross motorcycle racing. Honda Racing Corporation encompasses both the management of motorcycle and teams throughout the world and the development of racing motorcycles.

— Jose Monge Jr, Red Rider Program Coordinator for American Honda Motor Co.

THE CHALLENGE

line drawing of a circular mazeline drawing of a circular maze
  • Add brand impact at events with mobile digital signage

  • Improve the visual quality of performance reviews

A newer version of motocross (MX), Supercross (SX) brings dirt bike racing indoors, delivering high-energy stadium events with an easy view of the action. Seven manufacturers currently create the motorcycles that compete in the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) Supercross Championship, which consists of 17 rounds held in venues across the U.S. and Canada. At each event, brands vie for attention from fans in sold-out stadiums. Each motorcycle maker sponsors a team, and the riders themselves are one of the biggest marketing platforms.

To further showcase the Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) and the Honda Motorsports brand, Team Honda highlights its pit and riders with retractable fabric banners in the arena. Recently, a fan with insight into digital signage proposed an enhancement, while also suggesting an improvement to the team’s performance review system.

“We bring a team trailer truck to the events and after warm ups, qualifiers, and races the coaches sit with the riders and review their performance,” said Red Rider Program Coordinator for American Honda Motor Co. Jose Monge Jr. “It’s just like any premier-level sport, like football players going over their plays.”

To enable this rapid, on-site review, Team Honda staff haul monitors and video equipment to each event. The quality of those monitors, they were to discover, could make a notable difference.

THE SOLUTION

line drawing of a jigsaw puzzle pieceline drawing of a jigsaw puzzle piece
  • ViewSonic CDE5010 50-inch digital display with 4K Ultra HD resolution

  • ViewSonic ELITE™ XG320Q 32-inch 1440p gaming monitors with 175Hz (OC) refresh rate and 0.5ms (MPRT) response time, PureXP motion blur reduction and 99% sRGB coverage and 99% Adobe coverage

An unexpected encounter introduced Team Honda to new ways to improve both their on-site messaging and digital performance reviews.

Many Supercross fans like to enhance race day with a pit pass, which allows them to mingle with riders, mechanics, and motorcycles, and experience the energy that surrounds Supercross competition. This was where Monge and his team met Jeff Volpe, President of ViewSonic Americas.

“He saw the monitors we were using to review practice rounds and introduced himself,” said Monge. “He told us, ‘I’m in the monitor business and our monitors can do a better job for you than what you’re using now.’”

Volpe recommended the ViewSonic ELITE™ XG320Q 32-inch gaming monitor, which delivers ultra-smooth images, rapid response time, and a wide color gamut ideal for viewing the intricacies of fast-paced Supercross rides.

Next, Volpe suggested that Team Honda try a rolling promotion to draw attention to both companies’ brands, using two ViewSonic CDE5010 displays housed in weather-proof rolling cases.

Jeff is a terrific Supercross fan,” said Monge. “He’s enthusiastic about Honda racing and we were thrilled to implement his ideas.”

THE RESULTS

Line drawing of a rocketLine drawing of a rocket
  • Performance review visuals are more crisp, clear, and vibrant, with no lag or ghosting

The 2023 AMA Supercross Championship series began on January 7th at the Angel Stadium of Anaheim. Among the excitement and hype, the HRC riders and Team Honda support staff spent many more serious moments reviewing warm ups on the new ViewSonic monitors. Later, between the qualifiers and heats, the performance reviews became even more critical. The visuals, said Monge, were noticeably better.

“Right away it was clear from looking at them that these are premium monitors,” said Monge. “The images are very crisp and clear; it also helps for us that they’re lighter weight, since we move them around a lot.”

The vibrant 50-inch displays in their rolling cases paired perfectly with the energy-filled scene. A video loop ran an alternating series of Honda Powersports and ViewSonic messaging, along with a QR code linking to the “ViewSonic-Honda Gear Up Giveaway” prize lottery.

“It was a big improvement over what we were doing in the past, which was a simple fabric banner,” said Monge. “The ViewSonic display was much more attention-grabbing. At every event people would go up to it and see what it’s all about.”

The display accompanied Monge and the HRC team to each of the 17 Supercross rounds that year, running for upwards of eight hours each day. The displays and cases held up beautifully, said Monge, even in the occasional rainy weather they encountered.

The season wrapped up on Saturday, May 13th at the Salt Lake City Rice-Eccles Stadium, with Team Honda rider Chase Sexton taking the number one spot, giving Honda its first Supercross Championship in 20 years. A coincidence perhaps, but the crystal-clear performance reviews and added audience hype brought by the ViewSonic displays couldn’t have hurt.

Splitsville Delivers a 21st Century Entertainment Experience Using ViewSonic® Large Format Displays and Projectors

PROFILE

Splitsville Entertainment is an expanding Canadian chain of bowling and entertainment centers that provide an innovative, immersive experience for patrons. The Splitsville concept was created in 2006 with a mission to transform bowling into an engaging entertainment-focused experience that would attract the interest of a younger, tech-savvy customer base. The strategy was to acquire, update, and manage bowling venues that had fallen out of favor with the public. Since its inception, Splitsville has opened four locations in Ontario and British Columbia, making it the largest chain of bowling and entertainment centers in Canada. A cornerstone of the revamped entertainment concept has been Splitsville’s significant investment in high-end display and HD projection technologies from ViewSonic.

“ViewSonic digital signage, projection systems, and large format displays are now front and center in every area of every Splitsville facility, serving up music, sports, event reminders and acknowledgements, celebratory notices, advertising, and business presentations.”

— Pat Haggerty, President Splitsville Entertainment Group

THE CHALLENGE

line drawing of a circular mazeline drawing of a circular maze
  • Find a way to draw younger audiences and drive more revenue for bowling alley venues

  • Improve the overall entertainment experience through digital technology innovation

The bowling landscape in Canada has undergone significant changes over the years. During that time, it’s lost its appeal for many sectors of the population.

Many people have images of bowling alleys as throwbacks to a decades-old past, says Pat Haggerty, president, Splitsville Entertainment Center. “The typical impression was a place characterized by smelly shoes, unpleasant noise, and ugly shirts.”

Revenues have taken a hit. From the 1960s to the 1980s, bowling revenues came from four areas: corporate teams, birthday parties, open playing, and leagues. During that period, up to 85% of bowling lane revenue was generated from bowling leagues. With the societal shift to home entertainment, the number of registered bowling leagues has dropped dramatically.

“Once entertainment technology came on the scene, leagues shrunk to one-tenth of their original size and technology started to come into play,” Haggerty says.

Shifting demographics have also played their part. As millennials surpass baby boomers in numbers, interest in bowling as a source of entertainment has declined. For Splitsville, that was a wakeup call, Haggerty says. “Millennials carry the money and are much more tech-savvy. We knew that with that shift, bowling had to do something completely different to survive.”

To attract an entirely new generation, Haggerty says they needed to create an attention-grabbing digital and immersive experience. “The question we needed to answer was: How can we communicate to this large group of consumers and turn bowling into an entertainment experience?”

THE SOLUTION

line drawing of a jigsaw puzzle pieceline drawing of a jigsaw puzzle piece
  • ViewSonic CDE Full HD 1080p large format displays

  • ViewSonic Full HD 1080p projector systems

In 2006, Splitsville embarked on a mission to shatter stereotypes and attract a new generation of bowlers to the scene. This major renovation project included leveraging the latest and greatest display technology to create a multi-faceted entertainment experience. The goal was to create an audio-visual extravaganza throughout each facility, from the bowling lanes to the lounges and party rooms.

To accomplish this, Splitsville invested more than $1 million into each installation project. A key factor in the decision to purchase commercial grade displays was the desire to ensure top picture quality and a longer life.

The ultimate solution included ViewSonic product in the following areas:

  • Bowling lanes - Each bowling center features from 16 to 34 bowling lanes. These lanes are divided into zones of six, each of which was outfitted with 10 X 12 foot ViewSonic CDE series (commercial grade) drop-down displays that can be programmed to play different content and music. When not in use, the displays can be raised behind a masking unit via a remote control switch at the front desk.
  • Each site was also equipped with a suspended ViewSonic Full HD LED projector system for the walls behind the lane displays. These can be used to create a wallpaper effect showcasing Splitsville branding, or configured to present multiple image panes and messaging tailored for the audienceand/or time of day.
  • Party Rooms - LED projector systems were installed in each party room, all of which are connected to the main system and can access the satellite network via HDMI cable or cellular port.
  • Bars - The Splitsville bars were adorned with a video wall comprised of multiple 32” to 48” ViewSonic CDE series commercial-grade displays (11 to 14 units depending on the size of the location). Up to three satellite dishes provide customized visual and audio content to the various displays. Screens are connected to the satellite dish or the Bowling Music Network, which runs commercials every 15 minutes.

Additional display synchronization technology was deployed at the Hamilton location to enable increased selection of splitting options based on 16 to 20 inputs. These can be loaded at the head office, which, Haggerty explained enables them to dictate what they want to feed into those lanes at any time.

THE RESULTS

Line drawing of a rocketLine drawing of a rocket
  • New digital display and projector systems deliver eye-catching entertainment experience for a younger audience

  • Digital ads have resulted in increased food and beverage sales

  • Customer base has expanded to include party bookings, business meetings and more

  • Venue quadrupled earnings within 2.5 years of installation

  • Plans are in progress to add interactive displays at each bowling lane

Since its technological evolution, Splitsville has delivered on its promise to bring a state-of-the-art bowling entertainment experience to a new generation of customers.

"ViewSonic digital signage, projection systems, and large format displays are now front and center in every area of every Splitsville facility, serving up music, sports, event reminders and acknowledgements, celebratory notices, advertising, and business presentations," said Haggerty.

“The instant gratification of digital has been a big tool for getting people out,” said Haggerty. “Also, adding more visual richness to our ads has moved people to buy more food, more quickly.”

The first location to undergo an overhaul quadrupled its earnings within two-and-a-half years, said Haggerty. “It took about eight months for it to get its sea legs, but after that, everything came together.”

The sites have become a popular draw for activities outside of bowling, from party bookings to business meetings. “People can even do PowerPoint presentations over the lanes if they like. With one push of the button they can have all screens showing the same input,” said Haggerty.

Plans are in the works to add interactive touchscreen capabilities to displays at the individual bowling lanes to enable sign up, scorekeeping, points collection, and messaging.

Now armed with a proven concept with definitive results, Haggerty has his eyes on expansion into the U.S.

“Many factors motivated our decision to choose the ViewSonic displays – the quality of the equipment, the warranty, the cost, and the support provided during the decision-making process.”

— Salomón Ocón, GBT Technologies Director of Operations

THE CHALLENGE

line drawing of a circular mazeline drawing of a circular maze
  • Install a video wall solution that can effectively display both software development jobs, as well as stock market information, for a busy financial tech company.

For any digital signage solution provider, installing a video wall is always a challenge. For Sucotec S.A, not only did they require perfectly aligned displays, but they also needed to provide equipment that met the expectations of their customers, GBT Technologies.

According to Salomón Ocón, operations director of GBT Technologies, they wanted to invest in a video wall solution that would push effective communication and teamwork throughout the company.

“In our business, since most of our customers are in the financial market, we needed a visual tool capable of managing two main areas: software development and stock market indicator monitoring.

“Our developers needed a video wall for displaying programming jobs in an agile and simultaneous way. The rest of our staff wanted the video wall to display reference information about stock markets around the world. For these reasons, the video wall was installed in the lobby where everyone could see the different messages,” explained Ocón. “Obviously, the quality of the images should be flawless, and the edge of the displays should also be thin enough to make sure we have a better general view.”

To achieve this, Sucotec S.A. suggested to GBT Technologies the use of 12 ViewSonic CDE4803 commercial displays that, in addition to features like high brightness, wide viewing angles and narrow bezels, come with value added features, as highlighted by Ocón.

THE SOLUTION

  • A video wall comprised of 12 ViewSonic CDE4803 48” Full HD 1080p commercial displays

“Many factors motivated our decision to choose the ViewSonic displays – the quality of the equipment, the warranty, the cost, and the support provided during the decision-making process,” said Ocón.

Fernando Ramírez, Sucotec S.A. representative added, “We were always sure that the ViewSonic displays would be the most suitable for this video wall, given the requirements of big screen size, image quality, and symmetric alignment of the displays.”

The representatives of both companies highlighted a very successful purchasing and installation experience, not only due to the quality of the equipment, but also the support provided by ViewSonic and its wholesale distributor.

THE RESULTS

Line drawing of a rocketLine drawing of a rocket
  • Facilitating GBT Technologies staff permanent self-evaluation of their work processes which translates into better quality control and results for their customers.

“How has the installation of this video wall impacted our offices? I can say that it has improved the productivity of our daily activities. It provides better guidance to our staff for very specific software programming processes by sharing and displaying projects in a fast and efficient manner,” said Ocón.

In addition, there are no complaints related to the quality of the equipment provided.

“Since we installed this solution in our company, we have not had the need to receive technical support at all, which makes us very happy because it is a good indicator of the performance of the ViewSonic displays,” said Ocón.

For Fernando Ramírez, representative of Sucotec S.A., installing this ViewSonic video wall has generated important results for his customer, not only due to the support for the daily workload of the company, but also by creating a visually attractive environment around the solution.

After evaluating these successful results, Sucotec S.A. is certain they will keep a longlasting relationship with ViewSonic to help other companies achieve their goals.
