The Empowering Future Generations initiative is kicking off through a partnership with Orange County United Way with donations of some half-million dollars in technology solutions to underserved schools.

The partnership with Orange County United Way involves its Destination Graduation program that is offered to middle and high school students in high-need districts. This program helps reduce the local dropout rate and bridge the education achievement gap. The initial phase of this effort will provide ViewSonic® ViewBoard® interactive displays and myViewBoard™ software to support high levels of collaboration in AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) classrooms at Los Amigos High School and Santiago High School in the Garden Grove Unified School District.

The Empowering Future Generations initiative is designed to identify and support schools in need of technology resources for programs such as STEM and STEAM labs, SCALE-UP classrooms, robotics workshops and esports clubs. At the same time, it will provide opportunities for ViewSonic employees to engage with schools and serve their communities while building teamwork and leadership skills.

ViewSonic has been involved for some time in supporting schools with resources to enhance student learning and skills development. The company recently provided 100 Raspberry Pi compact computing devices for use by STEM, STEAM and robotics clubs in the Brea Olinda Unified School District. Other activities with Brea USD have included career days for 6^th graders at ViewSonic headquarters and  internships at the company for high school students. Additional support for area youth has included work with Make-a-Wish and Caterina’s Club, which ViewSonic plans to continue.

As part of a year-long partnership with the Brea Olinda School District, sixth graders from Laurel Elementary Magnet School of Innovation & Career Exploration were invited to a special educational event hosted by ViewSonic.



Laurel Magnet School students received a warm welcome by the ViewSonic Finch mascots where students had the opportunity to take selfies with the birds. The students then received a special behind-the-scenes tour of the ViewSonic offices which included the Visual Experience Center. During the tour, students were able to get their hands on the latest innovations in display technologies found on campuses and classrooms across the country.

Following the Visual Experience Center tour, students spent time with various ViewSonic managers to learn about careers in marketing. From product development to advertising, channel marketing, graphic design and social media – students learned from these experts about their jobs, experiences and day-to-day responsibilities.

Also being showcased will be the 55-inch CDE5561T, a 10-point multi-touch ViewBoard with a built-in ARM dual-core CPU and 8GB storage. When mounted on a motorized cart, the CDE5561T can be easily transported, tilted or laid flat to form an interactive table for young learners.

All ViewSonic^® ViewBoard interactive flat panel displays, including the CDE7061T and CDE6561T, come with ViewSonic’s exclusive ViewBoard for Education software. The easy-to-use annotation software solution was specifically designed for interactive displays. It allows teachers or students to write, highlight, edit and transform documents and images on-screen in real time, maximizing the capabilities of the interactive display to create more engaging content for collaboration. The software also features many easy-to-use templates for English, Math and Science. By using ViewBoard for Education software, content such as documents and images can be instantly edited and saved in Google drive, then shared in a Google-based classroom.

Solstice Software enables multiple users to easily and simultaneously share content from a range of devices (laptops, tablets, or smartphones) over a Wi-Fi or LAN network. With a Solstice-enabled ViewSonic display or projector in the classroom, a number of students can instantly connect, share, and control content on the display or projector to better facilitate collaboration among students.

The ViewSonic LS830 ultra-short throw laser projector will be at TCEA this year. With native 1080p Full HD resolution, 4,500 lumens of brightness and a laser phosphor light source lasting up to 20,000 hours, the LS830 is a great solution for smaller education spaces with big picture needs.
