ViewSonic Provides myViewBoard Training to Smestow Academy Teaching Staff

Smestow Academy in Wolverhampton, United Kingdom, has partnered with ViewSonic to explore new ways of using educational technology to support both teachers and students. During a visit to the school, ViewSonic’s team collaborated with the senior leadership team to deepen the partnership and lay the groundwork for enhancing educational outcomes and student attainment in the months ahead.

Bringing in Specialist Support

Finding IT specialisms in schools is a challenge, especially with stretched resources and competing responsibilities. By partnering with ViewSonic, Smestow Academy is gaining access to expert insight and fresh ideas from the private sector.

“You’re pulled pillar to post to do lots of different things… Having that benefit from a commercial company with their specialism really helps us to think about how does that fit in an education setting—when otherwise you probably wouldn’t have even thought of those ideas.”

Jonathan Stokes, Assistant Headteacher at Smestow Academy

Professional Development for Lasting Impact

A key part of the collaboration is focused on empowering teaching staff through professional development. As conversations progressed, it became clear that Professional Development training directly from ViewSonic would be the most effective way to help staff make full use of the tools available.

“Training for the staff is going to be key to make sure that the children get the best possible chance of getting the benefits from the hardware and software that ViewSonic has provided.”

Sarah Morgan, EdTech Demonstrator Programme Lead at Pheasey Training

By equipping teachers with the confidence and skills to use myViewBoard software and ViewBoard displays, the school is investing in sustainable, tech-supported learning experiences.

A Shared Vision for the Future

This partnership also reflects a shared commitment to forward-thinking education. ViewSonic and Smestow Academy are working together on experimental projects—such as hybrid learning rooms—that explore how education could evolve over the next five years.

“We’re always looking for partners who have the same ethos—looking to push the boundaries of technology and how it could be used in education… We’re working together on some interesting projects.”

Mark Frost, EMEA Visual Collaboration Marketing Manager at Intel
