Sharing Our Collective Actions on Earth Day 2025

It Starts with One: How Our People and Education Partners Are Living (and Working) More Sustainably

A reusable coffee cup. A greener commute. Taking time to care for a desk plant. These small habits might not seem like much on their own, but they’re often where real change begins—with one thoughtful choice, or one person deciding to do things a bit differently.

At ViewSonic, we’ve seen that firsthand. Across teams, offices, and even time zones, people are making small changes that reflect a shared mindset: to do what we can, where we can. It’s all part of what it means to #BeTheDifference—not just in our work, but in the way we show up every day.

So we’ve gathered a few of those stories—from individuals, teams, and education partners around the world. Simple, personal actions that speak to something bigger. Because while no single habit will fix everything, each one—and each of us—can help move things in the right direction. It starts with one. And from there, it spreads.

Welcome to My Workspace!

“I strive to keep this space open, inviting, and inspiring. You’ll notice I’m surrounded by plants grown from cuttings given to me by special people—each one carries a lovely memory alongside its beauty.

On my desk sits my favorite reusable notepad. After writing notes, I scan them using an app that uploads everything to OneNote or email. Then I wipe the page clean and reuse it. It’s a fantastic way to save paper!

You’ll also see my bike in the background. I’m committed to cycling for short journeys instead of using my car—it keeps me healthy and helps reduce fuel consumption, so it’s truly a win-win. I’m fortunate to live in the countryside, so whenever possible, I open the door to enjoy fresh air and birdsong. It helps me stay focused, clear-headed, and grounded in what really matters. (And yes—you’ll also see my potted herb garden. They save on airmiles and taste better than anything shop-bought!)”

— Ian Wedgewood, Head of Strategic Relationship, ViewSonic UK

For Earth Day, We Embraced a Zero-Waste Mindset at the Office

“Everyone brought their own mugs and thermoses, avoided disposables, and made sure to sort recyclables properly. These small changes helped us take a meaningful step toward a more sustainable workplace.

We believe real change starts with one person, one small step. Alongside reducing waste, we also brought in plants to brighten up the space and took care of them together as a team. It was a simple addition, but it made the office feel calmer—and reminded us of our responsibility to nature.

Sometimes sustainability is just that: small, everyday choices that create a better environment for everyone.”

— Marketing Team, ViewSonic Turkey

One Bottle, Many Miles

“My water bottle has gone the distance— tucked into backpacks, gripped in tired hands, clattering across airport floors.

It’s traveled to Japan, Vietnam, Korea, London, California, New York— and to places I never imagined I’d go.

Each scratch is a stamp, each dent a memory pressed into the metal. I’ve misplaced it in cabs, left it in hotel rooms, watched it tumble down rocky trails— yet somehow, it always returns.

Together, we’ve saved gallons of water, dodged plastic, one refill at a time. On Earth Day, I’m reminded: this isn’t just a bottle. It’s a partner in every journey.

One bottle, many miles. And still, many more to go.“

— Patricia Ting, Director of the Global Marketing Division

Building a More Sustainable City Starts with Us

“Hanoi has 6.5 million motorbikes and 600,000 cars—most of them running on fossil fuel.

Sitting in traffic for hours and breathing in toxic fumes can be exhausting. That’s why our team decided to start taking the bus to work whenever possible, at least once a week. It turned out to be a simple but meaningful shift. We saved on gas and parking, got more daily steps in, and felt less stressed on the way in.

The Bus Rapid Transit system here is modern, fast, and comfortable—and some of the buses are even electric. We hope these small steps can support the sustainable growth of our city and inspire others to do the same.“

— ViewSonic Vietnam Team

Bringing Nature into the Workday

“At the Delhi office, we’re happy to share that back in 2024, on International Men’s Day, every team member received a small plant to mark the occasion.

That simple gift sparked conversations about environmental care and personal responsibility. Now, those planters sit on our desks as daily reminders—and bring a little nature into our workdays.

Each one is lovingly tended, and with every new leaf, we’re reminded of our shared goal: to care for the planet in small, meaningful ways. These green touches have helped grow a deeper commitment to sustainability across the team.

We’re excited to see how simple, thoughtful gestures like this can inspire lasting habits in today’s fast-paced world.“

— ViewSonic India Team

Riding for the Planet

“To celebrate Earth Day, I decided to ride my bike to work instead of driving. It felt like a small change, but one that made sense—less fuel, cleaner air, and a clearer mind to start the day.

Cycling is more than just a way to get around. It’s a conscious choice—a simple, sustainable habit that supports both the planet and our well-being. It reminds us that not every solution has to be complex; sometimes, it’s about rethinking the everyday.

Each ride is a small act of commitment—and a reminder that every pedal can move us closer to a greener future. Let’s keep riding for the planet—not just today, but every day.“

— Hasan Kocyigit, Vice President of Central & Eastern Europe, Middle East & Africa

Drinks? Served. Food? Devoured.

“All with our own bottles and cutlery. What’s the best investment you can make? The planet—and yourself! A good bottle can last for years (proof that good choices last).“

— Social Media Team, Global Marketing Division

Lunchtime Goes Green!

“Instead of using disposable containers, we now bring our own colorful lunchboxes and reusable utensils. It’s a simple habit—fun, easy, and a great way to spark conversations about sustainability.

And honestly? Every bite just tastes better when it’s eco-friendly.“

— HR Team, ViewSonic Taiwan

Change Starts from Our Office

“At ViewSonic France, we’ve been looking for simple ways to reduce our environmental impact—starting right here in the office.

We’ve switched to reusable dishware to cut down on disposable items, and our coffee machine now uses whole beans instead of capsules, helping us avoid unnecessary waste.

We also installed a smart system to control when our demo screens turn on and off, so we’re not using more electricity than we need—especially during client visits.

They’re small changes, but they add up. And they reflect our ongoing commitment to sustainability in the everyday.“

— ViewSonic France Team

It’s not just our teams making small, sustainable shifts—some of our education partners are doing the same in their own ways. We asked a few of them to share the eco-friendly habits they’ve embraced, both in and out of the classroom. Like all meaningful change, it starts with one.

Growing Green Habits Together

“With Earth Day coming up, I organized several activities with my students. We started with a poster-making competition focused on the theme of protecting the environment. I also conducted a “Plant a Sapling” drive where the students planted saplings in our school garden.

To make it more personal, I asked the students to plant a sapling in their locality and post their photo while planting in the class WhatsApp group.

The students were engaged and excited about the projects, and the parents appreciated the initiative. In fact, many of them even started adopting eco-friendly practices at home.“

— Abhishek Sharma, English Teacher at Meerut Public School Main Wing, Meerut , India

Digital Seeds for a Greener Tomorrow

“For Earth Day, we launched the “Digital Seeds for a Greener Tomorrow” project, empowering students to apply educational technology to tackle environmental challenges. Students created multimedia content like videos and infographics on key issues, including plastic pollution, air pollution, and the loss of urban greenery.

In Early Childhood and Primary Education programs, students used technology such as 3D printing and simple circuits to turn waste into useful items like mini-irrigation systems and smart decorations. They also conducted science experiments for children, making eco-friendly products like lip balm, soap, and dishwashing liquid from natural ingredients like soapberries and lemongrass.

Additionally, 500 trees were planted on the Hoa Lac Green Campus, and STEM students collected data on electricity, water usage, and waste to propose practical sustainability solutions. These activities connect theory with practice while fostering a commitment to sustainability and environmental awareness.“

— Dr. Tôn Quang Cường, Senior Lecturer and People’s Teacher at the University of Education, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU)

Young Voices for the Planet

“To raise environmental awareness, especially around Earth Day, we organized several student-led activities. On World Water Day, students gave a lunchtime presentation with posters highlighting the importance of water conservation.

For World Soil Conservation Day, they presented the topic and conducted an experiment comparing water flow from grassy and bare soil—demonstrating how plants help prevent erosion. Students wore green and brown to show solidarity with nature. These activities not only increased awareness among students but also helped them develop essential life skills such as public speaking, responsibility, and collaboration.

We believe that encouraging environmental consciousness at an early age is key to building a sustainable future, and we are proud to see our students actively engaged in protecting the planet.“

— Filiz Nahya, Spanish Teacher and Eco-School Coordinator at SEV Middle School, Turkey

These stories—whether shared by colleagues, teams, or our education partners—remind us that sustainability isn’t about perfection. It’s about small, thoughtful choices that build momentum over time. Each reusable cup, each plant, each bike ride is a step in the right direction.

We’re proud of the actions our teams and partners are taking, and we know there’s more to do. Because real change doesn’t happen all at once—it happens together.
