Minor image retention may occur when a static image is displayed on the screen for extended periods of time.

This is a normal occurrence for In-Plane Switching (IPS) monitor panels.

The longer an image is left static on the screen, the more noticeable image retention will be.

In order to prevent image retention, enable the screen saver function on your monitor so that images are not static on your screen for extended periods of time.
