Why I Chose These Three Artworks

I chose these three pieces because they each reflect the concept of Flow uniquely – emotionally, compositionally, and atmospherically.

The piece Seeds of Tomorrow uses rhythm and repetition: the perfectly aligned crop lines and the horizon of trees create a visual flow that balances structure with motion.

The Quiet Queue plays with light, reflection, and perspective. The receding row of beach houses leads the eye smoothly into the distance, guided by the dynamic, moving sky above. It feels as though the moment stretches on endlessly.

In Twirly Winter Trees, the swirling sky symbolizes the creative pull you feel when you're completely immersed in your work. The flowing curves gently draw the viewer in – almost meditatively.

Each artwork captures a different dimension of visual flow – subtle, powerful, and always in motion.

What “FLOW” Means to Me

To me, Flow is a state in which I completely merge with my creative process – time becomes irrelevant, and the world goes quiet. It’s that indescribable feeling when technique, intuition, and emotion seamlessly blend.

In my creative work, it means this: I stop thinking and start feeling. Color, form, light – everything flows.

Flow isn’t a method, it’s a moment. A pull that draws you in, where art doesn’t get made – it happens. And that’s exactly what I try to capture in my images – through motion, balance, and intentional simplicity.

Tips & Tricks

In my niche – digital art compositing and atmospheric fine art editing – Flow is not only a theme, but also both method and destination.

  1. For me, the creative flow always begins with an inner vision. Imagination is the true origin of the artwork. That’s why my most important advice is: Train your imagination – not just your technical skills. Without a clear vision, every tool remains powerless.
  2. Technically, I work mainly with Adobe Photoshop, Camera Raw, and occasionally Illustrator when vector elements are involved. The final look is usually created in Luminar Neo (as a plug-in), often just to give it a certain look. Final adjustments are done back in Photoshop.
  3. A central design element in my work is the conscious use of lines, symmetry, and balance in both lighting, color grading, and color harmonies. I’m always looking for that visually “magnetic” pull that guides the viewer’s eye through the frame. I often use long exposure effects and minimalist compositions. Less is more – but only if deliberately constructed. In the piece Twirly Winter Trees, for example, I used the Liquify filter multiple times on the sky, then blended the effects pixel by pixel to create a soft, swirling dynamic that echoes the curves of the snowy hills below.
  4. If you want to achieve similar results, don’t start with the final look – start with the idea. Ask yourself: What should the viewer feel? Where does the visual journey begin and end? From there, you can plan your composition using simple sketches.
  5. Use light guides, curated color palettes, gradient- and luminosity masks, and above all, play with light and shadow.
  6. Tools are helpful, but true flow arises when technique and emotion begin to speak the same language!
