What is COB Technology option on a DVLED Display?

Answer: Chip-on-Board or "COB" refers to the mounting of a bare LED chip in direct contact with a substrate, to produce LED arrays.


Differences between SMD LED and COB LED consists of:

SMD
COB
Horizontal ChipFlip Chip
has LED PCB
does NOT have LED PCB (smaller chip)
has gold wiresdoes NOT have gold wires (less blockage of light)
cutting of encapsulate for each LEDcutting of encapsulate for whole section of LEDs


With these differences, COB has the benefits of:

  • larger viewing angle
  • excellent thermal conductivity
  • high luminous efficiency
  • high contrast ratio
  • excellent anti-collision ability
  • excellent moisture-proof


COB Technology is currently only offered for the 4K, LDP series.
