Settings where the PJD7820HD is the perfect solution

  • Business - conference rooms, meeting rooms, boardrooms.
  • Classroom - lectures, videos, lesson plans, project presentations, and even auditorium presentations.

Stunning picture quality with Full HD 1080p resolution

Native 1080p (1920x1080) resolution is perfect for the sharpest and clearest picture available. It delivers exceptional details and outstanding color saturation for incredible pixel-by-pixel performance and superior image quality.

The PJD7820HD features 1920x1080 native resolution for a total of 2,073,600 pixels. That is 4.3x more pixels than SVGA, 2.6x more than XGA or 2.0x more than WXGA. Whether it’s a multimedia presentation, graphic design, or video production, the PJD7820HD can demonstrate crisp details and enhance presentation quality without distortion or scaling of the original format.

DLP Technology

Advanced DLP (Digital Light Processing) technology allows you to experience crystal clear, razor-sharp and lifelike images with the same DLP technology used in Hollywood. For fast action, the response time is 1,000 times faster than similar LCD-based projectors. And with no air filters to clean or change, the latest generation of DLP-based projectors from ViewSonic is among the lowest TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) in the industry.

BrilliantColor Technology

The ViewSonic PJD7820HD projector with BrilliantColor technology features multi-color processing to produce stunning, vibrant colors. Unlike other technologies that use just 3 primary colors to produce the image (such as LCD), the PJD7820HD uses up to 6 separate colors. The sophisticated 6-segment color wheel enhances the yellow color performance that is key to accurate and vivid color reproduction. With multi-color processing, colors are richer and more vibrant with exquisite and precise detail.

HDMI with 3D Blu-ray ready

With the latest HDMI, the ViewSonic PJD7820HD projector can now display 3D directly from 3D Blu-ray players. The PJD7820HD is designed to provide an amazing 3D visual experience for classroom, office, and even home environments.

DynamicEco technology for total control of audience's focus

With the DynamicEco button on the remote, take command of presentations by dimming the screen brightness by 70%. This feature allows presenters to easily shift the audience's focus when the projector is not in use. When idle, the projector will auto-activate DynamicEco as well. When DynamicEco is activated, the lamp's power consumption is significantly reduced – a great energy-saving design for low total cost of ownership (TCO).

Virtually maintenance free with filter-less design

The ViewSonic PJD7820HD projector features a filter-less design. Unlike LCD projectors that require users to clean, or sometimes replace, filters every 100 to 300 hours of operation, the ViewSonic PJD7820HD projector’s filter-less design eliminates filter cleaning or filter replacement. This provides virtually zero maintenance, saves you significant dollars and labor over the projector’s lifespan, and lowers your total cost of ownership (TCO).

Long-lasting reliable picture quality & superior color performance

ViewSonic DLP projectors provide reliable picture quality you can trust and superior color performance you can count on, after thousands of hours of usage. Built on DLP technology, ViewSonic’s PJD7820HD projector virtually eliminates image degradation known as color decay – a yellow/faded tint that LCD projectors may develop after extended use. Even after years of use, the PJD7820HD will continue to produce a stunning, sharp image that lasts.

Packed with features
  • 6-segment color wheel design improves color performance and accuracy to provide natural, vivid colors
  • Auto source detection senses the source input and syncs with your computer automatically
  • Supports wide range of digital signals from SD (480i/480p) to HD (720p/1080i/1080p)
  • Integrated speaker ideal for multimedia applications, videos, audio-enabled presentations

PC 3D-Ready / 120Hz refresh rate powered DLP LinkTechnology

All that’s required to unlock 3D capabilities on the ViewSonic PJD7820HD 3D-ready projector is ViewSonic’s PGD-series 3D active shutter glasses, 3D content, and 3D-enabled video card. Unleash a vivid 3D experience with the ViewSonic PJD7820HD projector today.

Long lamp life up to 6,000 hours*

The new advanced lamp technology from ViewSonic extends the lamp life up to 6,000 hours and saves you on replacement lamp costs.

Environmentally friendly Eco-mode saves money and power

With only a slight 20% decrease in brightness, the Eco-mode function can extend the life of your lamp by almost 50% and up to 6,000 hours in some cases. Other benefits of Eco-mode operation include reduced power consumption, as well as less heat and audible noise output. It´s good for the environment and great for your budget. The Eco-mode function will definitely help lower your total cost of ownership (TCO).

Small & light for easy portability

Measuring only 3.3 inches high and weighing only 4.6 pounds, ViewSonic’s PJD7820HD is light and compact, making it the perfect portable projector for mobile sales and business travelers.

Peace of mind with industry-leading warranty

Backed by our 25-year reputation for quality and reliability, ViewSonic offers one of the industry´s best overall projector warranties with 3-year limited parts and labor, 1-year lamp, and free 1st year Express Exchange service**. Don´t be fooled by the seemingly longer warranties out there in the market that exclude the more vulnerable systems and moving parts of a projector

  • Turn friends into roommates by building the ultimate Super Bowl entertainment system

If you’ve longed for the kind of massive picture a projector can provide, but always thought you needed a pitch-black room or a huge budget, fear not. Not only have prices on quality projectors come way down, but you can get a super-bright model that can hang tough even in moderate ambient light. For a solid budget option, we like the $700 ViewSonic PJD-7820HD or the Optoma HD-25e. Want something a little more cinematic for darker rooms? Check out the Epson Powerlite Home Cinema 3020e or the BenQ W1500 for something wireless. For a screen, be sure to check out Da-Lite for some versatile options or Elite Screens for large models that won’t break the bank.

  • How to get a 110-inch Full HD TV for $699

The cost of a Full HD 1080p projector has dropped to $699 (street price) for the ViewSonic PJD7820HD. This is significant because it means anybody can take it out of the box, set it on the coffee table, plug in the HDMI cable and electricity, point it at a bare wall and see a bright, crisp HD picture as good or better than the local Cineplex. My wife and I were dumb-founded, jaws dropping, the picture was big, 110″ diagonal and as bright or brighter than our 50″ LED model in the bedroom. Suddenly we were riding the back of a whale in the artic, the whitest white against the blackness of this magnificent animal gave us a feeling of awe and wonder we both will never forget. She told me I was a genius. Our projector cost $2,400 and now that same performance has come down to $699 in 5 years.

  • ViewSonic PJD7820HD Review by Mike Fackrell

“It is nice to have a product that comes out every once and a while that just makes you step back and say AWESOME. The ViewSonic PJD7820HD is just one of those products! The value of the PJD7820HD truly is amazing! Well done ViewSonic!”

  • Viewsonic PJD7820HD Projector Review

The 7820HD was pitched to me as an affordable (AKA budget-friendly, AKA entry-level, AKA usually underwhelming) 1080p 3D-capable projector with enough juice to crank out 3,000 ANSI Lumens of light. If you don’t happen to be up on that particular unit of measurement, then you will be interested to know that 3,000 Lumens is bright enough to go toe-to-toe with sunlight and still be seen. And any projector that can pull that off and still get marketed as “affordable” has my attention.

  • Viewsonic PJD7820HD Projector Review

Impressive. Almost sensational. The ViewSonic PJD7820HD is all about price performance. We consider it to be a typically equipped low cost portable business projector, of the DLP variety, except that we're used to merely WXGA resolution, half the resolution of what this ViewSonic offers. As to home use, well, it's simply the least expensive 1080p projector out there so far. To think that some folks will pay far, far more for a 65" LCDTV - why? But things get even better. This projector is blindingly bright with more than 3500 measured lumens! With only a 3000 lumen rating, that we weren't expecting. That makes this 7820HD projector the brightest low cost projector we've reviewed that can double in the home.

  • ViewSonic PJD7820HD Home Video Projector

ViewSonic has cracked the $800 barrier with a capable HD home video projector. The PJD7820HD is small, light, and at 3,000 lumens it is plenty bright even in living rooms at midday. It does, of course, have its flaws; poor brightness uniformity and a loud fan number among them. Its built-in speaker is underpowered. It does exhibit rainbow artifacts, so those who see rainbows will want to test it out before committing to a purchase. But despite these limitations, the PJD7820HD is an affordable, portable, fully 3D projector that can light up a living room for an afternoon of fun. The PJD7820HD is a capable home video projector, and it is nice to have another inexpensive option to choose from.

  • Viewsonic PJD7820HD Projector – Review delayed, almost done

Like many other sub-$1500 home projectors, with the ViewSonic PJD-7820HD projector, there’s room for color improvement, but when you consider that this projector can put 3500 lumens on the wall or screen, and “calibrated” a good 1500 lumens… A lot of folks are going to love this projector for dual use, portable projector use, and for home entertainment!

  • Home Entertainment Projectors – Rough Around The Edges

BTW Kudos to ViewSonic. In the past we’ve reviewed a ViewSonic low cost projector with this issue, but their brand new PJD7820HD – a $699 1080p crossover projector has addressed this. It has two User modes, and both are savable. Manufacturers can learn from past “mistakes.” That’s encouraging.

  • Starting Our Projector Review of the Viewsonic PJD7820HD – 1080p, $699

At $699, [The ViewSonic PJD7820HD] a "crossover" projector, suitable for business use or home entertainment. I do believe it's the least expense 1080p projector out there at the moment. And it does offer full 3D including Blu-ray 3D thanks to having HDMI 1.4 and proper support, where as a number of other low coast Home Entertianment projectors do not support Blu-ray 3D!

  • Portability Driving New Growth In Digital Projector Market

Jeff Volpe, ViewSonic's president of the Americas, attributed this year's positive growth to the emerging category of portable solid-state and pico projectors. "This is an exciting and growing category because the solid-state is lampless and allows the total cost of ownership to be reduced," said Volpe. "The portability and reduction of heat based on the solid-state technology is of value to people from an energy usage perspective." According to ViewSonic Product Manager Roger Chien, this trend is budding due to the increased need for portability for traveling professionals.

  • Projectors, helmets, and other necessary equipment

A week ago, I was sent a ViewSonic PJD7820HD projector to review. The HD unit is “designed for SMBs and home office users,” and is priced, like my current unit, at about $700. To be honest, I didn’t think very much about the differences in HD vs. my current technology. But when I took the unit out of its box and set it up (a process that took less than five minutes – which is what I’d expect, but that’s the sort of expectation that isn’t always well-aligned with reality), I started to get a sense as to how and why the PJD7820HD is different in ways that matter. For one thing, the image is really crisp.
