Maricopa High School brings ViewSonic's high-tech performance to students and saves cost of remodeling library

Customer profile
Maricopa High School has been educating students in the community of Maricopa, Az., for over 50 years. Located in a rapidly growing suburban area 16 miles south of Phoenix, this high school is proud to offer exemplary academic and athletic opportunities available in the educational arena.

The Challenge
Maricopa High School in Arizona was looking to transform its old library card catalog system into a digital catalog resource that was both efficient and used very little space. The school invested in 12 ViewSonic VPC100 all-in-one PCs. Throughout the library are several four-sided concrete pillars with very little space for a traditional computer set up. The library needed an aesthetically pleasing solution with great computing capabilities for its more than 1,800 students to access its resources.

“We had very limited space for computing devices in our library,” said Jack Wallbrecht, Director of Technology. “We knew that it would be a challenge to find a solution that fit our extensive requirements for the space we have. We needed a sleek device that took up little space and had great computing performance. ViewSonic’s VPC100 is a perfect solution to our situation.”

The ViewSonic Solution
Maricopa High School looked to NeedThese, a computer hardware retailer, to provide them with solutions to its computing dilemma. The company immediately recommended the ViewSonic VPC100 as the best solution due to the product’s thin display, flexible design and essential specs for a fast, easy computing experience. NeedThese brought the units into the library and easily mounted the computers to the four sides of each concrete pillar. This wall-mounted layout enables students to easily access each computer to find resources quickly and efficiently.

“ViewSonic’s VPC100’s sleek, flexible design enabled us to work with the set-up that we had in the library perfectly,” added Wallbrecht. “The computers are attached to the wall and keyboards and mice fit neatly onto a small shelf counter. The images on the computer screens are clear and bright and the computing capabilities are perfect for our uses. The final design looks great and we are excited to receive positive feedback from the students and librarians who will use the devices daily.”

The Results
With the use of the ViewSonic VPC100 systems, students and librarians are able to quickly and easily access library resources. Not only does this save time, it also makes studying more enjoyable. Plus the units are green, so Maricopa High School is saving valuable energy and resources.

“Functionally, these systems work great,” said Robin Shoup, Librarian. “They work just like a regular computer and the students have no problem navigating to what they need. From the students’ perspective, they really offer the ‘wow’ factor; and for me, having them on the wall and selfcontained helps keep the clutter down. There are fewer pieces and wires to organize, and their slim profile offers space-savings and a much cleaner look overall. We’re very satisfied.”
