1) ViewSonic My-T-Touch Onscreen Keyboard Upgrade

ViewSonic has customized the style of the onscreen keyboard for the ViewPad 1000. In addition, the updated onscreen keyboard enables you to Log into the ViewPad 1000 without the need of an external keyboard.

Instructions on installing the ViewSonic My-T-Touch Onscreen Keyboard driver:

First remove Virtual Keyboard utility from the ViewPad 1000.
  • Click on: Start > Settings > Control Panel
  • Double click: Add/Remove Programs
  • Scroll to the bottom and select: Virtual Keyboard
  • Click: Change/Remove
  • "Confirm File Deletion" appears, click: Yes
  • "Uninstall successfully competed" click: OK
How to install the My-T-Touch Keyboard.
  • Double click on the Updated Virtual KB
  • Save to your disk.
  • Click: Open
  • Click: I Agree
  • Click: Extract
  • Click: Extract
  • Close WinZip
  • Go to the file where you extracted the Virtual KB
  • Run: Setup.exe file
  • Click: Install Software
  • Click: OK
  • Click: OK
  • Click: OK
  • On "Finalize Setup" click: No
  • Double click: My-T-Touch
  • Click: Run My-T-Touch
  • Keyboard will appear.
  • On the Minimize button located on the lower right, select the button above it.
  • Click: My-T-Touch Setup
  • On "My-T-Touch Setup"
  • Click: Configuration
  • Click: My-T-Touch Logon Utilities (Located on the lower left)
  • Click: Setup > Configure Logon Utility
  • On "Setup > Configure Logon Utility"
  • Check: Enable Onscreen Keyboard Logon (Located in the upper left)
  • Click: OK
  • Uncheck: Display Logo at Welcome & Logon Screen
  • Click: OK
  • Click: Exit
  • Click: Yes to restart computer

 2) Updated Audio Driver - Version 1.14

The Audio Driver version 1.14 eliminates the monophonic sound coming from the ViewPad 1000 speakers.

Instructions on installing the Updated Audio Driver:
  • Double click on the Updated Audio Driver
  • Save to your disk.
  • Click: Open
  • Click: I Agree
  • Click: Extract
  • Click: Extract
  • Close WinZip
  • Go to the file where you extracted the Audio Driver
  • Run: Setup.exe file
  • Click: Next
  • Click: Next
  • On "Setup Complete" Select Yes, I want to restart my computer now.
  • Click: Finish

 3) Right-Click Utility - Version 0.64

The Right-Click Utility version 0.64 improves the right-click functionality of the ViewPad 1000. While in use, the right click utility will automatically go back to the left click setting after one stylus click.

Instructions on installing the Right-Click Utility:
  • Double click on the Updated Touch Screen
  • Save to your disk.
  • Click: Open
  • Click: I Agree
  • Click: Extract
  • Click: Extract
  • Close WinZip
  • Go to the file where you extracted the Touch Screen
  • Run: Install
  • Click: Yes, to restart computer

 5) BIOS Update - Version 29

BIOS update version 29 eliminates the need for the fan to function the ViewPad 1000 is in Standby mode. This update also improves the Net Boot up operation of the device.

Instructions on installing the BIOS Update:
  • Double click on the BIOS Update
  • Save to your disk.
  • Click: Open
  • Click: I Agree
  • Click: Extract
  • Extract to your C:\
  • Click: Extract
  • Close WinZip
  • Open your Command Prompt
  • Go to Start/Run
  • Type: cmd
  • Click: OK
  • On your C:\> drive
  • Type: NTF0716.EXE V029_417.ROM /R
  • After Bios Program is complete, system will restart.

 6) USB Reboot Fix Instructions

The following file contains instructions on how to change the USB Driver to the Default MS Driver, thus preventing the unit from booting when a USB Storage Device is disconnected.

Instructions on changing your computer settings:
  • Right Click: My Computer
  • Click: Properties
  • On "System Properties" select: Hardware tab
  • Click: Device Manager
  • On "Device Manager" Double click: Universal Serial Bus controllers
  • There should be two "SiS 7001 PCI to USB Open Host Controller"
  • Double click on the first: SiS 7001 PCI to USB Open Host Controller
  • Select: Driver tab
  • Click: Update Driver
  • Click: Next
  • On "What do you want the wizard to do?"
  • Select: "Display a list of the known drivers for this device so that I can choose a specific driver"
  • Click: Next
  • On Models:
  • Select: Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller
  • Click: Next
  • Click: Next
  • Click: Finish
  • Click: Close
  • Now do the same for the second: SiS 7001 PCI to USB Open Host Controller

 7) ViewPad Q-Key Utility

The ViewPad Q-Key driver improves the functionality of the e-mail and Internet hot keys located on the ViewPad 1000.

Instructions on installing the ViewPad Q-Key Utility:
  • Double click on the Hotkey Fix Update
  • Run: Hotkey_fix.setup file
  • System will automatically restart.
