Customer profile:
A major metropolitan police department needed the ability to access
known felon information while in the field. They needed a handheld device
that could withstand the hard conditions of daily law enforcement activities.
Challenge:
The department's patrol officers needed the ability to quickly and accurately
identify individuals while in the field through a mobile device.

Solution:
The department selected ViewSonic's V38r-02 Enterprise Digital Assistant as the standard mobile
device for its field officers.
A customized face-recognition program was loaded onto the devices. Each day, images of known
suspects are wirelessly downloaded to the field officers' V38r-02 handheld devices. While in the field,
officers can take pictures of suspects using the integrated 1.3 megapixel camera and compare them to
the images in their onboard database. New pictures are wirelessly uploaded to the department's mainframe
at the end of each shift, ensuring a continuous up-to-date image database. |
