ViewSonic® V38r Helps Secure Chemical Weapons Depot

Customer profile:

Deseret Chemical Weapons Depot is one of the largest chemical weapons storage and destruction facilities in the United States. Located in Utah, the facility is controlled and operated by the U.S. Army Chemical and Biological Defense Command. It encompasses over 19,000 acres and has been storing chemical weapons since 1942. Its mission is to ensure that the storage of the chemical weapons stockpile remains safe for the community, the workers and the environment.

Challenge:

The Deseret Chemical Weapons Depot needed a secure and efficient method to move hundreds of personnel through checkpoints and on and off the base. They needed a top-notch access control and security system that would provide fast and accurate ID and personnel verification to ensure base security.

Solution:

Deseret Chemical Weapons Depot chose the V38r Enterprise Digital Assistant as its mobile authentication device because it complements LX Technologies' Spectrum Security Management Software and integrates seamlessly to the Intelli-Gate security system offered by Intellegent Perimeter Systems.

MPs and other security personnel on the base use the V38rs to remotely verify and identify personnel for access to and throughout the base. The handheld device carries a media card with executable and encrypted files that are secured against outside tampering. The V38r gives the security administrator logistical information on the personnel including identification, signature, clearance data and badge expiration.

The Enterprise Digital Assistant offers maximum features and productivity for rugged mobile communication and information exchange.
