VIEWSONIC EXPANDS DIGITAL SIGNAGE PRODUCT LINE AS MARKET DEMAND BOOMS
ND4210w Cost-Effective LCD Signage Display Removes the PC from the Equation
LONG BEACH, Calif., Nov. 15, 2006 – Continuing to provide affordable digital signage solutions, ViewSonic Corp. unveiled the latest product in its series of 25 products in the fourth quarter of 2006 — its 42-inch ND4210w LCD network display. Announced at EHX Fall 2006, the ND4210w integrates seamlessly with existing IP networks to bring streaming high definition video and HTML Web content to public locations. By eliminating the need for an external PC and allowing users to control content remotely, the ND4210w is ideal for businesses with multiple signage locations such as supermarkets, airports, restaurants and casinos.
"Our customers want easy-to-use, reliable and reasonably priced digital signage solutions, and LCD display technology meets these criteria," said Sam Sanchez, vice president of marketing, Coastline Micro. "As LCD prices continue to drop and trusted brands, like ViewSonic, bring to market the latest in signage solutions, we are able to offer the ideal communication tool for delivering specialized advertising content to the masses."
"It has been predicted by 2010 the digital signage market will be worth $13 billion according to analyst firm iSuppli¹. The ND4210w positions ViewSonic well to capitalize on this growing market while exceeding end-user demands," said Jeff Volpe vice president of marketing, ViewSonic Americas. "Digital signage is soon to become ubiquitous and the breadth of our product line provides cost-effective options that meet the needs of any business—from large venues such as auditoriums to more intimate settings like restaurants."
Including a fully featured Mozilla Web browser and high-definition video processing capabilities, the ND4210w streams video and HTML information via Ethernet at up to 20 MB per second. The display allows users to view HTML Web pages while streaming MPEG 1/2/4 video signals, in real-time, without needing a separate PC to convert the signal. The network display also features an internal 40GB hard drive to support local playback of digital media content, while its support of HTML authoring tools—Macromedia Flash, Dreamweaver and Frontpage—remove the complexity and cost of proprietary digital signage solutions.
ViewSonic's digital signage product line also includes the NMP-500 Network Media Player that can be combined with most large screen displays for a myriad of digital signage possibilities. The entire product line has been developed based on open standards, including common IP protocols for content management and streaming high definition video. This seamless integration with existing network infrastructure ultimately translates into minimal start-up costs for customers. Additionally, thousands of dollars are saved by removing the need for a dedicated PC to decode Flash and other video signals from the Internet before being displayed.
The ND4210w HD LCD network display has an estimated street price of $2,999 and will be available through authorized ViewSonic resellers starting Jan. 1, 2007. The NMP-500 has an estimated street price of $699 and is currently available through authorized ViewSonic resellers.
