The 15-inch ViewSonic airpanel V150, and the 10-inch airpanel V110, are the first offerings in ViewSonic’s new line of Windows Powered Smart Displays. Smart Displays are wireless, touch screen monitors that let you use your personal computer from anywhere in your home, enabling you to surf the Web from the couch, check e-mail while lying in bed, download recipes in the kitchen or share digital pictures on the patio. The airpanel Smart Displays are intended for remote mobile use throughout the home, but the 15-inch V150 can also be employed as the primary desktop monitor.
The Best of COMDEX Awards recognize the most innovative and influential products and technologies introduced at COMDEX Fall 2002. PC Magazine’s editorial staff selected the award winners, viewing hundreds of items on the show floor and evaluating submissions based on innovation, technical breakthrough and creativity of design.
"Consumers want to be freed from being tied to the location of their home computer, accessing their PC on their own terms – where and when they want," said Marc McConnaughey, senior vice president, Advanced Technology Group, ViewSonic. The "Best of COMDEX" award comes on the heels of ViewSonic’s announcement that it is the first U.S. Microsoft industry partner to make Smart Displays available to consumers through leading online and storefront retailers. A pre-order program, currently underway through participating retailers, including Comp USA, Amazon.com, Buy.com, Fry’s Electronics and RCS, not only provides first-on-the-block access to the ViewSonic airpanel V110 and V150 Smart Displays, but also a free docking station—up to a $199 value. In addition, the airpanel V110 and V150 Smart Displays will be available at these retailers across the U.S. on January 8, 2003.
For additional value and ease of use, both airpanel Smart Displays will be offered with everything the consumer needs to get the devices up and running right out of the box, including integrated wireless support, a USB wireless adapter solution (up to a $100 value) and an upgrade to the Microsoft Windows XP Professional operating system (a $200 value). The airpanel V110 and V150 are available for estimated street prices of $999 and $1299 respectively.
