Display Industry's First 18" and 15" LCD Flat Panels Featuring Digital and Analog Inputs
New York, PC Expo (Booth #3944) – June 22, 1999 – ViewSonic Corporation introduces the VP181 and VP151 ViewPanels, the first 18" and 15" flat panels to incorporate digital, analog and video inputs into one display. The new ViewPanels support the VESA Digital Flat Panel and Intel's Digital Visual Interface (DVI) standards. A picture-in-picture overlay is also achievable by selecting an analog and video input."ViewSonic understands how critical and essential the Visual Computing™ experience is to access information. The VP181 and VP151 meet this expectation and provide feature rich value with multiple inputs and DVI support for customers wanting cutting-edge technology," said Lisa Headley Rist, Product Line Manager, ViewSonic Corporation. "Customers can expect the outstanding flexibility and great price/performance that ViewSonic displays are known for." A total of five inputs are available on the VP181 and VP151 including two digital inputs, two analog (sync on green compatible) inputs and one video input. Both digital inputs are located on the head of the display, while the analog and video inputs are positioned on the base. The video input allows for a wide variety of applications including DVD, VCR and video cameras that can be connected via RCA or S-video connectors. The flat panels also support worldwide video standards including NTSC, PAL and SECAM.
The VP181 offers a maximum resolution of 1,600 x 1,200 while the VP151 supports a maximum of 1280 x 1024. With five downstream USB accessory ports, the flat panels accept USB-compliant peripherals including scanners, digital cameras and external storage devices. Additionally, the displays feature two integrated stereo speakers and set new standards for office ergonomics with swivel, tilt, height-adjustment and landscape/portrait pivot functions.
The new displays use a 20-pin MDR video connector that is compatible with DFP equipped PCs or video cards. Both are forward compatible with DVI, the industry's future universal standard supported by the Digital Display Working Group. The DVI specification provides a high-speed digital connection for visual data type that is display technology independent.
Ease-of-use is increased with size, center and phase controls that are adjusted automatically. ViewMatch® color control allows users to adjust color temperature and individual color intensity for screen-to-print color matching. Advanced users will appreciate the Gamma adjustment capabilities within both flat panels. This rare feature allows for more accurate color response and helps eliminate compatibility issues that are typically associated with a video card.
To maximize space saving benefits, the flat panels are wall mountable with any VESA-compliant mount system. Designed for both PC and Mac® systems, the displays support Plug & Play+ for easy set-up and installation in the Windows® 95, 98, NT and 2000 environments. Additionally, the ViewPanels comply with strict TCO emissions and power standards.
The VP181 and VP151 include a DVI adapter and will ship in August 1999. They are backed by a three-year limited warranty on parts, labor and the backlight. ViewSonic also offers a 48-hour Express Exchange® Service option.
