WALNUT, Calif. – December 7, 1998 – ViewSonic Corporation, a leading worldwide provider of advance display technologies, has gained an undisputed position as one of the nation's largest privately held technology companies. In the month of November alone, the 10-year-old company has been recognized by Forbes, Deloitte & Touche, and the Los Angeles Business Journal as one of the fastest-growing and most successful companies in the nation.

Forbes 500 Top Private Companies: ViewSonic has been included on Forbes' list of the 500 Top Private Companies in the nation — its first appearance on the prestigious roster. ViewSonic ranked 263rd with revenues of $832 million in 1997. To be considered for this ranking, a company had to have at least $469 million in revenue, be headquartered in the U.S., and have at least 100 employees.

Deloitte & Touche Fast 500: ViewSonic landed a spot on Deloitte & Touche's Fast 500, which ranks the fastest-growing technology companies in the nation. The company ranked 397th with revenues growing from just over $100 million in 1993 to over $830 million in 1997, an increase of 716 percent. In addition, its employee count has jumped from 84 to more than 650 between the years of 1993 and 1997.

Los Angeles Business Journal Fastest Growing Private Companies: ViewSonic has been named the 27th fastest growing privately owned company in Los Angeles County. ViewSonic is one of only eight technology companies appearing in the publication's "Top 100" list and is the second largest in terms of total revenues with over $830 million in 1997 (J.F. Shea Co. reported just over $1 billion in revenue). Earlier this year, the publication named ViewSonic the number one minority owned business and the 11th largest privately held company in Los Angeles.

And, according to Stanford Resources' Q3 1998 Monitrak report, ViewSonic is currently leading the liquid crystal display (LCD) monitor market with 20 percent market share, while positioned only fourth (behind Compaq, Dell and Hewlett-Packard) in the overall CRT monitor industry.

ViewSonic was also recently recognized by Inc. magazine as one of the fastest growing private companies in America. This year ViewSonic ranked number 436 on the well-known Inc. 500 list. This is the third time in the past six years that Inc. has named ViewSonic one of "America's Entrepreneurial Superstars." In 1993, ViewSonic ranked number 365, and in 1992, the company earned position number 168.
